Love is blind because love is unconditional.
This story was broadcast on ABC’s 20/20 Friday night. It is a story of unconditional love, devotion, and yes courage, as well as inspiring to others. As I watched the story unfold, all I can feel was admiration.
Love is a mysterious thing, and when you heard a story that is amazing as this; you must take a moment to appreciate its phenomenon. Most of us look for perfection in the opposite sex. If it is not close to perfect, he/she has to be somewhat “normal” or at least resembling ourselves.
Meet Jeremy Bowden
(Image from
Kono TV)
He is a handsome ordinary young man at 6 feet, 4 inches, and 19 years old. He lost his mother to cancer at 12, and suffered attention deficit hyperactive disorder. However, he has a reputation as a ladies’ man. In his high school year, his friendship with a special classmate become closer, and he fell in love with her.
Meet Christianne Ray

(Image from
Kono TV)
She is 2 feet, 9 inches, and suffers from a rare kind of dwarfism. At 19, she became pregnant. She went through doubts, frightful moments, and confusions. After telling Jeremy that she was pregnant, they both cried for an hour, and decided to go through with it.
Meet the Couple

Jeremy is Christianne’s strength in the physical sense, because Christianne cannot walk far nor lifting anything, Jeremy has to pick her up and carries her around. Christianne is Jeremy’s emotional stability because of her jolly personality. She tells it like it is!
Meet the Family

(Picture belongs to Christianne Ray)
Her baby girl was delivered by C-Section on April 4, Kryten Elise. The baby might be a dwarf too, but will be taller than her mom. As for Jeremy, he is a proud and happy father. He said having a child calms him down a lot since he has more responsibilities now.
Christianne is now known as the shortest mom in the world. Her story had gone around the globe, and many people had criticized her decision to have the baby.
I am, on the other hand, looking at this story at a different angle. I found this couple’s love story is extraordinary and worth of praise. I have heard the expression “love is blind”, but I think love is just beautiful
What can be more incredible when two humans just love each other for who they are, the way they are, and do not see limitations in other’s as handicap? Let’s just celebrate their love, and Happy Valentine!

What a beautiful family! Great article, Icy.
Beautiful story!
Well done-I hadn’t seen the show, but you really gave it a nice recap.
Sandy
I wholeheartedly agree with you Icy…God bless them!
They found true love and happiness. They’ve set a good example for the rest of us.
Lovely! Interesting stories Icy.
Wonderful Icy, what an inspirational story!
This is so heart warming. I’m sure that this will be on the hot content list in no time. They must really love each other.
Mr?Ms Carp, You’ve obviously never found love, how very sad.
Icy, what a truly beautiful story demonstrating the meaning of love. Love looks past appearance and sees the heart. How inspiring.
It is a beautiful love story. Some people live a long life and never find real love.
They both seem like beautiful people, but it’s not as if she’s physically ugly. She’s quite attractive- she just comes in a small package. Somehow to me this is normal love.
Great story, Icy. I really like the way you wrote about it.
Great story, icy!
thats so cute! great story!
aww how cute!
The first picture of the girl reminds me of hilary duff for some reason though

Hi there IC,
This is quite remarkable
and very beautiful.
Thanks for sharing
with your sure fire
talent. Take care.
This is such a nice family. The world would truely be a better place if there were more people like this out there. Great story!!!
What a lovely story.
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.
Very touching. Inspiring real life story.
Thank you for all your comments. I am deeply grateful for your support.
Love is beautiful! What a wonderful story. Unconditional love is the only true love.
I watched the show that they did on t.v. and it was SO sad when Christianne found that site that was bashing little people…herself included. I almost cried. I wish that more people would see their relationship as the writer of this blog/thing. I bet that all the people who were saying hurtful things were all closed-minded red-necks from the south who can’t wrap their dingy heads around the idea of accepting differences between people. I don’t know Christianne…but I feel as if we would get along.
I didn’t see the show but I was inspired by your post and the story. Thank you. I talk about it and linked it to my last post at An Example of Unconditional Love
The link didn’t show up. Here it is again:
Last time – go to plain-talk-ordinary-wisdom.blogspot.com and the name of the post is “An Example of Unconditional Love”.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story about unconditional love.
Wow.This is very nice story.
Gorgeous baby. What a lovely family they are.
wonderful, wonderful, that’s a perfect example of LOVE
I think their family is just beautiful. I hope that everything works out for them. And for those who were bashing her for something she had ABSOLUTELY no control over…they ought to be ashamed. People are born with non-genetic and genetic disorders all the time. Just because it’s not something you’re not used to gives you no right to judge. Would you say “oh it’s got down syndrome, it should be put to sleep for the sake of humanity” (something that was said by Christianne on the show from the website)??? WOULD YOU???!!! I didn’t think so. It’s people like this beautiful family that show you no matter what, life is beautiful…and love is unconditional.
I too saw their story on DHC just now. I was impressed by the young man’s obvious love for Christianne and the baby. I wish them a happy marriage and hope the little one will be healthy as well her mom.
In response to Katie who left a comment #22, not all rednecks live in the south. That was a very unkind remark. As a southerner I resent that comment! It seems to me you are a bit closed minded yourself.
I have nothing against “little” people having babies, like on “Little People Big World.” But if I’m not mistaken, Amy and her husband did it in the correct order: graduated school, got married, then had a baby. There is nothing admirable or inspirational about a teen couple who drops out of high school, abandons education plans, and has a baby. People act as though Jeremy and Christianne wre the first couple to ever love each other. I saw the show. She whines and acts like an adolescent. Jeremy is going to be taking care of two babies now. They both should have stayed in school, graduated, gotten jobs, married, THEN had a baby. THEN that’s something to admire.
That is disgusting. That child will never be able to lead a normal life. The mother and father should be ashamed. Not to mention that it’s just…disgusting.

#31–Glad your life’s plan works out for you!
#32–What you said tell a lot about you!
To everyone else, thank you for your comment! Life is beautiful when there are still so many beautiful souls who see beyond the surface.
I agree they are very brave, but I saw the shoe too, and the poster PISSED OFF is correct, she is very whiney and hardly being a help to Jeremy by doing this. Her mom seems to help alot too.
She may be short but she is HIGH maintainence chick. All that whining and “do this, do that” would drive me nuts. I’m disabled and I would be embarassed to have my wife “run jump” for me all day like that. I wish them luck though. They need it!!!
im watching the show right now and heard about people bashing you guys and i just want to say you guys are absolutely wonderful parents keep up the good work!! and for the people hating on you guys just ignore them because they have no life and just want to pick on other people for their own insecurities. you guys are truely an inspiring, amazing family, good luck with everything!

What a nice love story!!! Great!!!
ITS REALLY EXTRAORDINARY !!!
I saw the show for the first time this evening on Discovery Health, and Christianne’s distress and Jeremy’s anger re: the negative online comments posted about them sparked my curiosity. So I went online to see for myself the comments posted online on several different sites. While there are indeed a number of hurtful, judgmental comments, there are even more comments that are positive and supportive. My suggestion to you both: focus on the positive and ignore the negative. Regarding the stares and other rude reactions when you are out in public, try to remember that humans can be both curious and ignorant, kind and cruel, and, again focus on the positive and ignore the negative.
is 15 months old. My son carries his fiancee to lift her into their vehicle, carries her into bathrooms and other places that are not wheelchair accessible, and does a lot of other things to care for his fiancee and their son. Because of her disability, she is unable to manage caring for their toddler full time on her own, so my son is home full time to care for both and is not working. Is this difficult? Yes. Is he going to leave because of her disability? No. Do people stare and make comments when they are out in public? Yes. Does this bother them? Yes. But they are learning to focus on the positive and ignore the negative. (My son also has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, an “invisible” disability.)
I am a 63 year old 5 foot tall mother of a 25 year old 6 foot tall son whose 23 year old 4 foot 9inch fiancee has been in a wheelchair since age 8 with a congenital neuromuscular disorder. Their son, my grandson
It has been said that we should never judge another until we have walked a mile in their moccasins. I believe in the wisdom contained in this saying.
It has also been said that, when our time on this earth is done, the only thing that will matter is who we loved and who loved us.
To Christianne, Jeremy, Krysten, and their extended family, may love carry you.
What a beautiful and absolutely (in it’s own way) normal story about love, everyday heroism, and toughness in the face of challenges. Focus only on the positive and best wishes on your upcoming marriage. Wishing you and your lovely daughter only the best.
They are so brave, wonderful and loving each other. God bless You Christianne, Jeremy and your daugther, love Asia from Poland
im watching the show right now
and Christianne Ray is sooo beautiful.
that’s true..no matter who the person is..love indeed conquers all.
I think a person who gives us a living example to all and are a great person
