Would have had a slim chance for survival if it wasn’t noticed by security.

Piyawan Palasarn, 31, faces up to four years in prison and a 40,000 baht ($1,300) for trying to smuggle a tiger cub on to a plane at a Thai Airport.

The tiger was drugged and placed next to a tiger stuffed animal in the woman’s bag. When the checked in her overweight bag and it went through security, they noticed there was a live animal inside.

The baby tiger was severely dehydrated and could not walk. He was released to the Wildlife Health Unit at the Department of National Parks’ Wildlife and Plant Conservation Center and was given oxygen, water and lactation. If the cub would have made it onto the plane, it is likely that he would not have survived the trip.

It in unknown what the woman was planning to do with the tiger cub, but she could have fetched about 100,000 baht ($3,200) on the black market in Iran for the cub. Exotic pets are popular in Iran.

DNA tests will be conducted to determine the cub’s origin.

Honestly, four years is not enough for what this woman did. Her blatant disregard for the life of that poor cub is disgusting. Her fine is also next to nothing.

The woman denied that the bag belonged to her and told police that another passenger had asked her to hold it for them, but c’mon, no one falls for that trick anymore.

I sincerely hope this woman gets put away for at least the current maximum jailtime, and I also hope the jailtime for a crime like this is extended.
