Laws are in place to recoup ill gotten gains from criminals. The latest revelations about Barclays Bank have shown that criminal activity took place. Instead of the bankers giving back the huge amounts they extracted the world is watching as innocent people have their lives ruined to make up the shortfalls caused by bankers greed. Isn’t it time that world governments made the bankers give it all back? If not, why not?
Bob Diamond, the former CEO of Barclays Bank PLC, resigned last week. This man, who many cronies and people who should know better still refer to as a genius, headed Barclays over a period which saw the value of the bank’s shares fall by about 66%. Last week Diamond proved that he was either a liar or he really did not know what his employees were up to in relation to fixing LIBOR. Despite this, Diamond, who has earned more than £100 million while in the CEO role, is now in line for a golden-goodbye payment of £26 million.

This case is typical of the crap we are supposed to put up with and have no alternative to put up with. The rich come up with more ways of evading paying the taxes that their poorer peers have to stump up. Meanwhile, those who were struggling before the credit crunch crisis have had their incomes slashed to pay for the bankers. What is going on?
Why don’t we rewind, go back, see where all the money went – who received huge payouts – and take it back? Perhaps there’s a clue to be had in the supposed “glitch” which hit those who bank with RBS and Nat West. This glitch saw people go hungry because they could not gain access to their money. Is this the banks way of letting governments know that they won’t go down without a struggle?
Since the credit crunch crisis in 2008 the rich have got richer and the gap between rich and poor has widened considerably. There has got to be a redistribution because the poor need more to keep body and soul together. The greedy have gone too far this time.
Make the bankers give it back!
