These are the top nine unusual and alarming news events of 2007.
Millions of refugees fled from Somalia.

Somalia’s civil war still capture the memory of most people though it occurred in 1997, and thus they are shocked when having heard of more than 1 million people fleeing from their homes to save their lives. As a result, the world has to deal with an increasing refugee settlement’s problem thereafter.

The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the rate of children obesity is in an alarming state. In conjunction to the rise of children obesity, the obesity rate for the adults was reported as 34%. The study showed no significant increase in an adult obesity rate from 2003 to 2006, nevertheless, experts did not think that obesity problem in the United States has overcome with satisfying results.
A huge oil field was accidentally found in Brazil.

In November 1997, one huge oil field was found offshore in Brazil. Although Brazil is a self-supply oil producing country, the discovery of the new oil field undoubtedly has added the economic benefit to Brazil particularly dealing with the production of oil. It is also expected that Brazil may become one of the world’s major oil production countries among other giant oil production countries such as Saudi Arabia, Brunei, and Venezuela. The rise of Brazil may become a new competitor to these nations in terms of the oil issue that the world is facing now.
The United States has abused government expenditure.

The US Democratic Party has always pledged to cut down the government expenditure, but many members of the Democratic Party have abused the government expenditure through various filthy and wicked channels. One of the representatives from Pennsylvania has approved the funding of 160 million US dollars which included 23 million US dollars for the National Drug Intelligence Center in his hometown in 2007.
