Police Step Up Search for More Former Eastender’s Actress Body Parts

24 hours after London police found the torso of a woman in Hackney’s Regents Canal, they are continuing their search for the head and limbs.

Gemma McCluskie a former Eastenders actress went missing on March the 1st, after a volatile family argument at her home in Bethnal Green. After an exhaustative search, police and friends were unable to locate the actress, but early Tuesday evening the police were alerted to something floating in the canal. Someone close the family was at the scene the time the torso was pulled from the water, and it is stated that they identified the body (due to markings) at the scene. However police are awaiting the results of an autopsy before announcing the news.

It is thought that the body that was found had the head, arms, and legs removed to hide the identity of the body. The removal of the limbs was said to have been carried out with a surgical instrument.

Tony McCluskie the actress’s 35-year-old brother was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of murdering Gemma. Neighbours of the family said the heated argument on the first of March was between Tony and Gemma.

As is often the case in murder investigations, Tony put himself in the public eye appealing for help in locating his missing sister; it is believed that inconsistencies in his recalling of events led to his arrest.

The police state they are almost certain of the identity of the body, and a official announcement is due any time.

Today the police stepped up the search of the site near where the torso was found in the hope of recovering more body parts. While searching the undergrowth nearby they recovered several items, one of which is believed to be a mobile phone.
