A whopping seven foot rattlesnake was spotted in Florida. Locals call it “RatZilla”.

Florida has recently been flooded with rattlesnakes slithering in from all corners. Though a remarkable seven foot long rattlesnake was discovered in St. Augustine in Florida. The rattlesnake was trapped, captured and killed it in a busy and crowded neighbourhood and was measured exactly at a whopping 7 feet and 3 inches long.

The snake was a Diamond Back which are very common in Florida and Georgia. Diamond Backs are the monster breed of rattle snakes, and the bigger rattlers usually measure to 3 feet to 6 feet. So for this rattler to be a 7-footer was extraordinary.

When the huge rattler, which locals called RatZilla, was first spotted, local police called upon Brandon Booth who is a professional trapper to deal with it. Booth said that when he picked up the beast, he didn’t realise just how large and dangerous it was. He just wanted to capture it and not let RatZilla escape.

The last few months, huge and dangerous constrictors have been spotted everywhere, especially in the Western Miami-Dade County, which is causing concerns that they should start a breeding population.

The number of Burmese Pythons in South Florida and throughout Everglades National Park have rapidly increased over the last 10 years to possible thousands slithering around.

The latest snake that threats Floridians as they step out of their front door are Rock Pythons. Which can grow to an astounding 20 feet and up to 200 pounds.
