Man killed by excessive playing of video games!

Video games are one of the most popular things that children, and even adults enjoy now days. Interacting with your friends, and trying to see who can kill the most zombies before time runs out. I personally am a gamer myself, but it never crossed my mind that playing video games for countless hours could have an effect on my health.

Chris Staniforth, a healthy 20 year old man, was killed by video games. By killed I don’t mean that the video game jumped out, turned to reality and he caught a flying piece of shrapnel. No, this is not the case. Chris Staniforth, was a strong gamer. He would spend countless hours in front of his video games. As a result, Chris was killed by a  pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that reached his heart. He developed the blood clot, from countless hours playing video games, without a break. Sitting in one position for too long can be very dangerous, as your blood flow to your lower extremities slows down, causing these blood clots.

Chris had a bright future in front of him. He came from a family of programmers, an he was offered a place to study Game Design at Leicester University.

It is unfortunate for Chris, but maybe his death will open the eyes to many gamers, to take breaks when playing a video game. This can be an inconvenience, but one way to resolve the disruption of playing Internet games, is to have a gaming partner. Someone who you can switch off with. You know take turns like we have been taught since birth. Also, I hope this will open the eyes of the parents of children, who know that their child is an excessive gamer. Parents should be paying attention to their children, and ensuring that they take breaks from video games. And this does not only pertain to video games, but sitting on the computer for hours, or watching television. Parents should make their kids get up and walk around after a couple hours of any of these.

Once again I know you love video games as much as I do, but don’t let your addiction to video games kill you!
