A man won a eating contest in Russia, only to die while receiving his award.

A man who won the pancake-eating competition died while receiving his prize in the city of Chermyakhovsk in Russia. Boris Isayey, 48 died on stage as he was about to receive his prize. The contest took place in the city of Chernyakhovsk which marked the end of Butter Week. It was reported on Sky news website that Mr. Isayey ate 43 of the bananas and cream stuffed desserts, which resulted in taking his life.

One witness told Sky news that Mr Isayev was “the most active participant in the contest”. Other witnesses told Sky news that Mr. Isayev had enjoyed eating the pancakes “but then he started foaming at the mouth and went down like a sack of stones”
“The exact cause of death is not clear but doctors believe he choked after a piece of pancake got lodged in his throat. That is terrible. Poor man. They don’t seem to have given him much thought afterwards if they continued with the celebration. An interesting article.
