Woman Attacked by Pet Chimp

Charla Nash recently revealed her face on the Oprah show, Nash’s face disfigured after the woman was mauled by a friend’s pet chimpanzee. The chimp attack occurred on February the 16th in one of Charla Nash’s friend’s house in Connecticut. The chimpanzee’s owner Sandra Herold asked for Charla to assist her in luring the chimpanzee back into Herold’s residence. Sometime during this exchange the 200 pound chimpanzee viciously mauled Charla Nash ripping off Nash’s hands, nose and eyelids in the process. Shortly after the attack police managed to shoot and kill the 200 pound chimpanzee named Travis. Nash insisted on the Oprah show that she was not angry in any way towards the chimpanzee that attacked her. Although her legal actions might lead you to believe other wise, Nash is suing the chimp’s owner, Herold, for 50 million dollars. Charla told Oprah that she didn’t have any memory of the February attack and that she doesn’t want to remember it. In addition to her face Charla also lost her hands in the chimp mauling. Nash has to eat all her food through a straw. At first Nash didn’t realize her eyes were missing because she didn’t have any sensation in her face. Nash says she tries to walk everyday even when she doesn’t feel up to it when she does go walking she covers her face because Nash believes uncovered her face would scare people. Towards the end of the Oprah interview Nash talked about wishing she could help pick out her daughters prom dress. Some news sources have said that Nash told them that she repeatedly told Herold that her 200 pound pet primate was dangerous.
