A zoo keeper has been mauled to death at the “Zion Wildlife Gardens” in New Zealand by a rare white tiger in front of eight tourists. Although other members of staff were present, the tiger attacked the zoo keeper during a cleaning exercise and repelled every effort to free him. An official statement from the zoo confirms that it has now been closed to visitors, and the white tiger has been destroyed.

According to the BBC, the zoo hosts over 40 rare tigers and lions. Unfortunately, this is not the first time such incidence has occured. In the early part of this year, another zoo keeper was attacked by another white tiger. It is therefore obvious that more effort need to be put in place to ensure this tragic incident does not happen again.
