After TSA Pulls Man Aside He Strips Naked to Prove He Had No Bombs or Weapons!
It’s all to protect us from terrorist attacks and to keep us safe? I don’t think so!
John E. Brennan, 49, of Portland decided enough is enough. Mr. Brennen stripped naked at Portland International Airport as a protest against airport security screeners. After going through a humiliating pat down and a metal detector then being pulled aside for a more invasive search. He just stripped down to the bare facts to prove he was not carrying a bomb or any other weapon. This was of course,, an affront to the unconstitutional invasions of privacy that go on every day at our airports.
John Brennen was charged with disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. The disorderly conduct charge was dropped at Brennan’s arraignment Wednesday. Brennen characterized his act of defiance as protected political speech. “The most effective way to show them I’m not carrying a bomb is take off my clothes,” Brennan said.
The police incident report said Brennan’s nudity caused some passengers to cover their eyes and their children’s eyes while others looked, laughed and took photos.
No person likes to be violated. TSA has been violating thousands of innocent travelers in airports with their so called security measures. They look at our private areas (and at times touch and violate those areas). And all for what? Security expert Bruce Schneier says that the TSA’s efforts are “security theater” as the amount of dangerous items they miss is astronomical. He notes that during the agency’s multi-billion-dollar history, it has yet to thwart a single attempted terrorist attack. People like Brennen are fed up. Very public displays of our civil rights being violated happen each day at airports across the country and more and more citizens are fed up with it.
