Big Deal:King of Pop Dead at 50

The sudden death of Michael Jackson has brought about a multitude of reactions from around the world. Though, many have expressed shock, surely there are those that are asking the question, who is Michael Jackson?

Known as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson reached the peak of his success in the 1980’s making famous “moon walking” and “crotch grabbing”. Not the most moral of behavior, but clearly not the beginning of outlandish acts that Jackson would commit. Yet, with his sudden end, people have ignored the facts of what he did. But should a man not be measured by the events of his entire life, not just by record sells.

For nearly two decades, the life of Michael Jackson had been filled with a series of sex scandals involving under age male children. And in Berlin he dangled his son from a balcony. In 93, he settle allegations of sexual assault on a young man out of court for the sum of 20 million dollars. If that had been the only allegation it might have been forgotten, but there were even more. Clearly there had to have been some truth to the first one, and more should have been done then. Jackson was acquitted of all of the charges, which is more than common for a celebrity. Nor, did he face any punishment for endangerment to his own child as a result of the incident in Berlin.

On hearing the news of his death, some were noted as saying it was just like the day that Kennedy was shot. These people must be somewhat misguided in their views of the world. Kennedy was the a President and worked hard to change the world. Jackson did not. Jackson and Kennedy is like comparing apples and oranges. A celebrity and an elected official. Jackson who Played with Boys in the 90’s to Kennedy who was a Play Boy of the 50’s. They are on completely different levels.

Even Elvis would have spun in his grave if he had known of Lisa Marie’s marriage to the “King of Pop”. Michael Jackson was a man that was starved for attention without an understanding of what it meant to be an adult. Clearly, his view of the world was distorted. Even to the point where he purchased the “Never Land Ranch” which became to center of his Sex Scandals.

At the time of his death, Michael Jackson was in debt to the tune of 400 million dollars. However, his record sells will continue to increase due to the circumstances of a sudden death. But it is unlikely that his creditors will ever be paid back the money that they are owed from the estate. Though, his children will be taken care of, the bulk of it will most likely remain in probate courts for the next couple of decades while everyone tries to prove their claim to the money.

Michael Jackson, died shortly before he was to begin a new tour in an attempt to rebuild his career. On article said that “Jackson’s UK concerts have been postponed.”. Unless he is going to come back from the dead, it should have said that they were canceled. However, in this society, faking a death for publicity would not be surprising. Even if not, there is not a miracle that will bring Jackson back. But even death will make his name even more famous than it is.
