DJ AM found dead with crack pipe and prescription drugs near him.

DJ AM has been found dead in his apartment yesterday.  New York city police found him unconscious on the floor.  He was never revived.  DJ AM was only 36 years old.

DJ AM, like many celebrities in the public eye, appears to have given into the pressure.  Although it is not certain what took the life of the 36 year old DJ AM, drugs are the obvious culprit.  Let’s examine the facts.

Throughout his career DJ AM has admittedly had addictions to Ecstasy.  This is a street drug that is cheap and readily available in night clubs and bars.  It is habitually used by dance club goers.  Some of the commonly known effects of ecstasy are:

Feeling intimate, you feel good about yourself and others, very accepting, music is much better, your pupils become very large, there is an ever increasing need to suck on things (this is where the lolly pops ravers use come from) and spinning lights amaze you.  This drug sounds good but all the while it is slowly killing you, just as any other drug.  This is all called “rolling” on “E”.  “E” is the pill ecstasy.  You won’t be hungry, tired or have a lack of energy for about 6 hours.

DJ AM also admitted to an addiction with crack cocaine.  “Crack” is most commonly derived from water, cocaine and baking soda.  These ingredients are heated crack cocaine rocks begin to form in the mixture.  These are then smoked in a “crack pipe”.  Normal cocaine is usually snorted.  This “crack cocaine” allows for a much quicker greater high than snorting.  Most users experience a euphoric feeling.  Such as, invincibility, loss of appetite, alertness, paranoia and many others.  After coming down off the high users feel depressed and low.  They need another fix to bring them up.  There you have the addiction.

DJ AM had reportedly kicked both of these habits.  He had spoke to many advocacy groups about the costs of these addictions.  He had even gone as far as trying to kill himself, however when pulling the trigger, the gun jammed.  He even appeared in the MTV reality show “Gone too far” which tried to get kids off the wrong path of drugs and alcohol.

He was involved in a romantic relationship with Nichole Richie.

“Adam Golstein” (DJ AM) was critically injured last year when riding in a Learjet with Blink 182.  The plane crashed and he made it out alive.  However, he was burned very badly.

Upon discovering his body police also found a crack pipe and prescription drugs near him.  The crack pipe can be explained by his previous addiction and the prescription drugs can also be explained by the burns he suffered due to the plane crash.

Greatly saddened by this, it appears another has been brought down by the burden of fame.  May his family find comfort in their time of need.
