Farrah Fawcett.

One of the biggest sex symbols to burst into the decade of the 1970s into certain superstardom was Farrah Fawcett.  Her captivating smile and envious blonde hair could not be escaped.  Her rise to fame was sealed  in 1976 with the success of her long running ABC television series “Charlie’s Angels.”  Farrah played the fair-haired Jill Munroe, a private detective we could not resist week after week.  Farrah’s sensational pinup  hung everywhere.  Her poster would go on to sell millions of copies worldwide.   Our attraction to her dynamic personna was fatal.  With just one look, you were possessed by her jubilant personality and coquettish charm.

Farrah’s path to stardom had its share of disappointments.  There were many who didn’t take Farrah seriously as an actress.  There was also the failure of her short -lived marriage to actor Lee Majors.   After Farrah left the “Angel” realm, she found  her much deserved critical acclaim for her portrayal as a battered wife who could take no more in “The Burning Bed.”  This role showed any remaining skeptics that Farrah Fawcett was more than just a pretty face.  She was indeed a force to be reckoned with.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Farrah urgently tried every course of treatment in her grasp with hope and determination.  At the age of sixty-two, her life was ultimately cut short by cancer’s deadly blow.   Farrah Fawcett’s star had shone brightly and she will be remembered.     She leaves behind many devoted followers who will deeply miss her.
