We all remember the off color, no pun intended, remarks that Don Imus made. It resulted in him loosing his job and the near ruin of his career. Well, this weekend Jamie Fox had one of the crudest and atrocious dialogues that I’ve ever heard. However, the news and the public seems to be writing it off as just harmless “humor” from a shock jock.
The weekend “Foxxhole” Sirius Radio show had a dialogue break out between Jamie Foxx and his posse about Miley Cyrus. Miley was brought into the conversation because she recently posted on a social network site about her ire over not being allowed backstage at the Grammy’s to meet the band, Radiohead. The conversation about sixteen year old Miley Cyrus suddenly went from mildly funny to raunchy, racist, and repulsive.
Jamie Fox says: “”Who is Miley Cyrus? The one with all the gums? She needs to get a gum transplant!” He continues to make fun of her physical appearance as he is heard saying things like-can I get an order of teeth; light on the gums etc…
It was bad to hear 41 year old Jamie Foxx making fun of a sixteen year old girl, but he wasn’t stopping with Mileys’ looks. He went on to advise Miley Cyrus to: “make a sex tape and grow up… “ “Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin… get some crack in your pipe…” “Catch Chlamydia on a bicycle seat.” One of his posse calls Miley a “white bitch” on several occasions.
I am not a Miley Cyrus or Hanna Montana fan, but I would not want someone to talk about my dog in this light. And, I wonder how Jamie Foxx would feel if someone said these things about his 15 year old daughter, Corrine. How would he and the public take it if Howard Stern called Corrine “a black bitch with big gums?” I would bet that the public outrage would be deafening.
In my opinion, there is definitely a double standard going on here. Don Imus was fired for racial slurring, but Jamie Foxx doesn’t even get a slap on the wrist when he does it. It is beyond me why anyone would even find it funny to take a girl, that by Hollywood standards, appears to be staying out of trouble and tell her to become more like Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears!
I thought that it was unconstitutional for Don Imus to be fired based on his comments. I would say the same for Jamie Fox. He didn’t threaten her or harm her reputation, and the constitution gives him the right to free speech. However, I, like you, have the responsibility to show Jamie Foxx that what he does with his free speech will have repercussions. I will not be seeing his movies, buying his music albums, or listening to his Sirius radio show.
Will you still see his new movie “The Soloist” or buy his new album?

It’s absolutely a double-standard. Anything goes when it’s directed at white people. And the “apology”, which was completely devoid of any semblance of contrition, was nothing more than PR damage control. The scum always rises to the surface eventually, even when surrounded by a posse of handlers.
I’ve never been a fan of Jamie Foxx, so I never buy his stuff anyway… but I agree that he should never have said that stuff. That’s horrendously rude and childish on his part.
Good points. Doubt Foxx has much of an audience and he was no doubt trying to build it up. And went way over the line.
And this is a man who won an oscar for his role as the late, great Ray Charles. Usually when people criticise others it’s either because they feel inadequate about themselves or they’re just plain jealous! Someone forgot to tell Jamie that Ray Charles had a heroin addiction..he would have been turning in his grave when Jamie Foxx made some of these comments. If what you say is true Jo, my opinion of Jamie Foxx has changed from very good to very bad. Perhaps it’s true what they say about your name being a reflection of who you are..in this case it is definitely true – “Foxx”.

I am like Louie in the fact I have not come across these ‘children’, however to say such disgusting things in public is an outrage.

I don’t like it when anyone makes discouraging or demeaning comments about anyone else, obviously, especially when unprovoked. It’s unfortunate and definitely not cool, especially from someone I had regarded as a gifted actor.

Wow I had not heard any of this and I agree that this is terrible. Miley Cyrus is still a child and any adult that would degrade themselves to talking about a child’s looks above everything else needs to take a real look at themselves and what kind of person they are … apology or not !

Well if he’s on sirius, he probably owns the station, therefore can say what he wants. That IS why Stern is there now…Disagreeable conduct toward a young girl, though. I would say since she has attacked some of the other hollywood personas recently, this is probably backlash.

Quite shocking really and the sad thing is these days people like him are allowed to act like that and get away with it! they forget about peoples personal feeling just to boost ratings and get a little bit of publicity, sick shocking and damned right out of taste.

Good Article! I too was very schocked when I heard of this. No one deserves this. Although he claims this to the comedy-man side of him, there is a line to be drawn. This time it did go overboard.
If… Jamie is truly apologetic for his words, most people will not believe the sincerity due to the severity of his words and the timing of the apology. So….only he and God knows that.
Him getting away with it: As far as him getting away with it. I did here that Cyrus’ dad was not letting it rest. So… I guess only time will tell.
About the Apology: If he is sincerely apologetic, I’m sure that now he is thinking twice about every word that he said. Probably even wondering why or how he could have even said such things or have allowed the slander to go as far as it did on his show. This is embarrassing, rude, and very thoughtless to say the least and I’m sure that is eating him up inside.
He went overboard on that one, but it’s true that Miley should grow up. Did you know she actually threated Radiohead by saying “I’ll ruin them”? But then, she’s just 16.

Foxx’s comments were revolting. Apparently, the show is always that nasty and vile. Who listens to this junk? I get the feeling that every woman is called a b*tch on that show.
However, I don’t really think there is a double standard- Don Imus was working for a major network- not his own Sirius radio channel. Who is going to fire Foxx from a show that he owns?
Who is supposed to slap him on the wrist? It’s not because he’s black, it’s because he is in a different situation from Don Imus.
And there is plenty of public outrage- millions are boycotting Foxx’s movie.
