The tragic death of John Travolta’s son and my opinion on it.
John Travolta and Kelly Preston lost their 16 year old son while on holiday at the family’s Bahamas holiday home. After Jett had a seizure apparently John performed CPR immediately after Jett Collapsed in front of him for twenty minutes until the ambulance officers arrived as John discovered Jett had a pulse though a very weak one and by the time the ambulance officers arrived to their holiday home they basically had to tear him away from his son while he pleaded to them “ Help me, help me! I’m losing him.” reported the New York Daily News. By the time Jett was rushed to the Freeport’s Rand Memorial Hospital he was pronounced dead on arrival on the 3rdJanuary 2009.
A lot of people have rallied around him at this devastating time in their lives and their has been many speculations and untruths about the death of their son and many have focused on the fact that John and Kelly are Scientologists and that John Travolta could have prevented Jett’s death. This is untrue and unfounded. Though John and Kelly are Scientology members they are not as devout in the religion like Tom Cruise is. Kelly and John Travolta have always put their children first and also use western medicine. Jett also had a full time nanny with him all the time and that is believable to me as which famous Hollywood couple do you know of that don’t have nannies. Jett was also under constant care after being diagnosed with Kawasaki syndrome, a rare disease and doctors say that even though there is no link between Kawasaki disease and epilepsy though some people that have autism suffer epileptic seizures and as a retired nurse this is in fact true. I say this as they believe though yet not proven that Jett may have also been autistic.
Jett was in fact on epilepsy medication for years, an anti-seizure drug called Depakote but just before his death was taken off the medication after consulting with neurosurgeons they found that not only had the medicine stopped working for Jett it was also causing him internal damage including major damage to his liver due to his Kawasaki syndrome which causes organs to inflame. Since coming off the seizure medication Jett had began to have seizures every few days and the family took extra steps in protecting Jett by having a nanny with him 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He had always had a nanny by his side since a child due to his seizures anyway.
I personally cannot put John Travolta and Kelly Preston in the same category as Tom Cruise. They never let their belief in their religion interfere with the welfare of their children and even though it goes against Scientology policy of never seeing western doctors and taking western medicine. John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have seen western doctors and take western medicine. So the claims of people saying that John could have saved his son by treating him medically well is unfounded as he did have his son see medical doctors, specialists and was also medicated and the moment he collapsed John began CPR. There was nothing more that John could have done in my personal opinion.
I have written an article about Tom Cruise in concerns with this religion effecting the children called Scientology vs Tom Cruise’s Children ; Scientology Vs. Tom Cruises’s Children well John Travolta did not involve his children in his beliefs.
I wish John Travolta and Kelly Preston my heart felt condolences in the death of their son in their time of grief and his memory will live on in their hearts.

This is so sad. I feel sorry for John and Kelly. This is a terrible loss for them. This is a really well written article, Shelley. Keep up the great work.
Dear CA Johnson,
thank-you hon I couldn’t believe it myself I remember when he was born there was complications and they didn’t think hew was going to make it. Before you know it there baby is nearly a 17 year old. Time goes by fast. But for the Travoltas time will be very slow for them. I really feel for them. As they say with John Travolta what you see is what you get in his interviews that he is a genuinly wonderful man who cares deeply about others so to lose his son must be very heartbreaking for him.
Love Shelley.
