Is this really the best we have to offer?
Kanye West is a moron. There isn’t any room for debate on the subject; he is a complete ass, and has been for some time. I have heard, in recent days, excuses ranging from a troubled childhood to addiction issues. To whit I reply…..bullsh*t. He is an idiot. This is what happens when you take a mid grade performer with only marginal talent and turn him into a pop icon. You put him up on a pedestal, surround him with adoring fellow morons, throw a spotlight on him. How exactly are we surprised by this? This is what our mainstream music offers up, and like lemmings, we drink it in.
Our standards have gone directly into the toilet. Rap music used to scare us, and justifiably so. Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet terrified middle class white parents.
It was brutal; it was scary, and most of all, it was real. This was the life these men lived. There was an integrity here. These were angry kids trying to open the eyes of a generation. You have to wonder what Chuck D would say about West’s antics. The’New king of Pop’ he calls himself. Has the genre truly fallen so far? Of course.
Rap music, as a whole, is about how much bling you wear, and how well you are able to rap about how great you are. How hood you are. What was once a music swimming in revolution has now become commercial dribble, and the likes of Kanye West are the excrement it leaves behind.
In an ideal world, this idiot would lose his record deal and his celebrity status. Lord knows he doesn’t deserve it. But he won’t. If anything, this will give a boost to the new ‘king of pop’ and his record sales. The only fool greater than this one is the one who buys his next album.
This is our kids role model?

I have disliked him since I first saw him perform with Sting on “Message in a Bottle” in which the only contribution he had was a few “YO YO”’s and “YEAH”’s . I would like to add “Ass and Dick” to your title. He ruined 2 acceptance speaches because Beyonnce gave up hers and Taylors wasnt at the right time.

I dislike the idiot too. I liked some of his music because they have a good beat and I could dance to it, but he is an arrogant , ignorant, idiot. I didn’t really thought much about the way he behaved throughout his career, I really didn’t pay much attention, but I watched the awards the other day and what he did just made me soooooooo mad. Taylor Swift did not deserve that, and it was her first time receiving that award, he should’ve respected that.
he makes good music who cares if hes an idiot maybe your the idiot for being such a strong opinion of someone youve never met,never will met and who dosent care if you like him or not.
I am interested to know what caused him to act out in this way. When he spoke up about the Hurricane Katrina situation I believed that he was acting out of a sense of just wanting to say something about the people there and although I don’t think it was the best thing to say……He had the guts to say it and there was enough truth to it to not be a completely idiotic comment. After all, this tragedy happened in the USA and this same idiot that everyone is trashing had some sense to feel the pulse of the unheard and speak out.
This current incident from Kenya is disappointing and he displayed the shame that he needed to display on Jay Leno’s new show. He apologized but more importantly he felt in that moment that what he did was wrong. There have been many an entertainer that have messed up, said they were sorry, and we were left with the feeling that it lacked sincerity.

Before condemning him completely, for being rude, let’s see if he has true remorse by what he does from now on.
I’ve come to realize that this whole entertainment industry is a bunch of bs. I wouldn’t be surprised if that whole Kanye West thing was set up just to get us, the general public to talk about it. It’s just another way for him to get attention. They will do anything to get you and I interested. It’s all one big soap opera.

I have never liked him or rap music as a whole.He is a controversial figure I will agree 200percent.But just because he calls himself the king of pop doesn’t make it necessarily true, he has to earn it in my way of thinking.
I really like his music………… sometimes you just don’t understand why people do what they do. Taylor Swift even mentioned that she likes his music and had never met him until that night – - what a way to meet someone you admire.

All mainstream rap and hip hop is complete garbage with no creativity or positive value to it at all in my opinion. People should broaden their horizons and check out some other stuff so idiots like kanye get off the radios. RIP KANYE You lost it after late registration. Take the time off and get your head right
I like this article. It’s written with so much passion, and I like that not only do you comment on Kanye, you comment on the state of hip hop in general. I agree with your views! I, for one, think that Kanye is troubled (probably mentally so), and it was confirmed that he was drunk. At least he apologized; now I hope that he gets some help, b/c it’s not okay to go around alienating and disrespecting people that way. And truly great artists are humble about their talents. They don’t have to brag on how great they are, they let the work speak for itself. It’s such a turn off when people say that they are the best, the most “important human being in music,” just because their album sold close to a million in its first week (Kanye). People who are successful and have influence like he has should be gracious about it. Kanye, be GRACIOUS. And please get some help.

i really enjoyed this. I have seven children and they love a range of music. My older ones really like the rap scene though and they were more than apuled at this action. my one son has even informed me that a twelve year old child who was making funny rap with some of his friends on youtube had said things about some of the more popular rappers. keep in mind this boy is twelve and was just messing around with his friends, well he said something negative about kanye, reports have it he responded to this child by saying he would come there and kick his ass. the negativity that kanye has been releasing lately has lost fans in my famiy and also their friends. he has taken a back seat to people like lil wayne and emmenim and he dont like it. i guess negative attention is better than no attention

I completely agree with this article!!!! He is NOT talented!!! What is wrong with everyone that they can mistake his music for good music? He sucks, always has and ALWAYS will. He is a perfect example of why music is taking a downfall…they tell us someone is hot and talented and we make them rich and buy their albums. What happened to US deciding who is talented and who deserves this kind of credit? He is not the king of anything and frankly I think that \”King of Pop\” is an insult to those before him that actually had REAL talent. I don\’t hate him but I don\’t believe he should be called an \”artist\” of any kind. His music sucks and his attitude accompanies it!!
