Laci and Unborn Child vs. Scott Peterson

            Up until that Christmas when Laci Peterson went missing, nobody even knew who she was. All we knew was she was pregnant, and her husband Scott called her in as missing person. He went on to speak of his wife and unborn child as the center of his universal, he appeared on television “begging” for her return. Which was outrageous since he knew she was rotting at the bottom of the bay. It turns out that there was so much evidence pointing to him, but without a body it was hard to convict him, which eventually did surface.

His plan over time unfolded, they found out that he had a girlfriend, while Laci was still alive. He was out, enjoying life of a bachelor instead of being at home mourning the possible lose of his wife and unborn child. It was about three months later that her body surfaced along with the baby, who was named Connor. The evidence that they were able to collect along with bloodstains made it very easy to convict Scott in the death of his wife and child. People need to realize that forensic science is very exact and leaving zero percent for errors. After his conviction he was given the death sentence by lethal injection, but for now he just sit on death row, and now looking for donations to appeal the court decision.

In our country we have the right to appeal a court decision, which is what Scott and his family are doing; they are asking for and accepting donations hoping to get another chance in court to clear this person of his crimes. It is one thing to appeal a court decision, but to ask the general public for donations is outrageous, they are depending on the wide spread news attention to draw people to the cause.  In the past there have been cases where a person was cleared after a retrial, but today it is very different especially since we have the top of the line scientists in the forensic field, who are able to work with a tiny microscopic cell, to determine the genetics of that person. Who does Scott Petersen and his family think we are? Stupid. The evidence along with the forensic findings all pointed to this “Partying” selfish individual.

Scott spends his day in a four by nine cell, with five hours to stretch and mingle with other convicts, pass along letters to family and get a bit of exercise. It is my guess that if the Peterson’s raise enough money to appeal the case, we shall see him in the news once again, declaring his innocence. It is up to Laci’s family to stay strong to their cause and make sure that this never happens.
