Another one bites the dust.
It seems like we hear a different version of this story every few months. Rapper comes from the streets. Rapper find sudden success. Rapper finds he has insane amounts of money. Rapper continues to live gangster lifestyle. Does drugs. Has gun. Does something stupid. Goes to jail.
Sound familiar? Lil Wayne, come on down! You’re the next contestant! And we are always surprised. We shake our heads, and talk about just how talented the kid is, how much potential he has, how much good he can do. Many will say that it’s unfair; citing either his awful background, or his miraculous turnaround (usually starting, coincidentally, immediately after arrest and leading up to sentencing). They’re already starting to come out for Wayne; after all, anyone with a rough background should be excused for trite little things such as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminal possession of a loaded weapon.
It’s hard for me to feel bad for the guy; I have no sympathy whatsoever. In a world where people are struggling to feed and support their families, these morons get the golden ticket and blow it because they aren’t smart enough to stop living like idiots. If there is a real tragedy here, it’s that this jackass will get out of prison and pick up right where he left off. We will, in fact, probably love him even more. He will either be a redemption story, which we love, or a true thug, which we love even more. Sometimes we really suck.

You obviously don’t know the whole story the gun was not his. He has valuable objects on his bus that he needs to protect from robbery and just plain people being stupid. The cops decide to search his bus after he is doing a show for the people of New York and the cops magically decide to search his bus when they had no reason to. The gun wasn’t his but he took the fall for it. If you know anything about Lil Wayne he is a very well educated and respectful person. So learn your facts before you call others on their faults you obnoxious ass.
I don’t really feel its accurate to state that “we” will all love him even more, or “we” suck sometimes. I never liked Lil Wayne or anything music he put out and anyone who is actually into HIP HOP probably doesn’t either. And it isn’t all that surprising he had firearms on him. Its America. So Lil Wayne is getting charged with a crime because he didn’t have a permit for his gun? It seems that there is a larger issue behind this one particular story about this one marginally talented rapper. It seems you should clearly define the issues and legalities behind this story rather than just spewing your seemingly ill informed opinion. What I am still curious about is what is the difference between legally and illegally possessing a firearm. I assume that a great deal of people in the states carry guns and it seems that if all he is guilty of is not having a permit for the weapon, then he really hasn’t done anything overly ‘wrong’.
You are fucking retarded. Quit hatin you filthy piece of shit.
It wasnt sudden sucess either he worked for, and earned, what he got. what he decides to do with it is his own problem not ours.
