Oscar Nominees

Oh yes it’s Oscar time again and the competition is as close as ever! The Curious Case of Benjamin Button takes the lead with 13 nominations. It’s an amazing film it deserves it. This will be Brad Pitt’s second nomination for Best male Actor in a drama, he was nominated in 1995 for his crazy character in Twelve Monkeys but the Oscar went to Kevin Spacey the The Unusual suspects that year. I’m really rooting for him on this one. The lead Actor nominees also include Sean Penn for Milk, Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler, Richard Jenkins for The Visitors and Fran Langella for Frost/Nixon.

As far as Best Actress Meryl Streep is nominated for the 15th time for her role in the drama Doubt. Her competition includes Anne Hathaway in Rachel Getting Married, Angelina Jolie in Changeling, Kate Winslet for The Reader and Melissa Leo in Frozen River.

Best Supporting Actor includes the late Heath Ledger for his haunting role in The Dark knight. Rounding out the catagory is Robert Downey Jr. in the comedy Tropic Thunder, Phillip Seymor Hoffman in Doubt and Michael Shannon in Revolutionary Road.

Last but not least of the major categories is Supporting Actress. Nominated are Amy Adams of Doubt, Penelope Cruz of Vicky Christina Barcelona, Taraji P. Henson of Benjamin Button and Marissa Tomei of The Wrestler.

So how about this year I might actually watch? There are some people I really want to see such as Brad, Kate and Taraji P. Henson.
