If you have seen the image of the Photoshopped Ralph Lauren Model Filippa Hamilton, you’ll be more surprised to hear that she was fired recently.

The images above shows Filippa Hamilton who, after being the image of Ralph Lauren for 8 years, gets fired due to being overweight. Hamilton claims that Ralph Lauren was dissatisfied with her body because she’s unable to fit in their clothes. In fact, she was fired six months ago but the brand continued to use her image by editing her body which caused all the fuzz.
Filippa Hamilton weighs 120 pounds at 5′10″ and that’s just pretty normal for anyone that tall. However, Ralph Lauren fires her “as a result of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with us.” But Filippa insists that the reason why she was fired was that she has become to fat to model for them. As for the disturbingly altered image, Ralph Lauren claims that “The image in question was mistakenly released and used in a department store in Japan and was not the approved image which ran in the U.S.”
These might have happened way too many times to other models but have been less-known to us who aren’t part of the industry. Well, our definition of overweight isn’t similar to theirs and this should be corrected. A lot of women suffer from eating disorders because of the belief that being skinny makes them look good. Who can blame them? That’s what we see in magazines, in the television, and runways to name a few.

Nice written Ella…Thanks!
That’s so ridiculous that models have to be a size 1 or 0. Looking at the 2 pictures you posted, she looks much better in the picture on the right. In the photoshopped picture it looks like they put her head on the wrong body.
I think that 120 pounds on someone who is 5 10 is not overweight.
Great article.
I think this was a great article but, it made me pissed off because I AM overweight and when I hear someone under a size 12 saying they are underweight even worse when someone a size 0 does it. lol.. Any who its not the model’s fault its the companies fault.
