Reports have been heard that Susan Boyle had a breakdown after her final performance.
Piers Morgan, in an interview, addresses worldwide concerns about Susan Boyle’s mental health and has stated that Susan, like most of the contestants, is exhausted.
Piers relates that Susan received medical attention, as needed, throughout the week leading up to the final performance, and decided to enter the clinic afterwards for some much needed rest and relaxation. And, he adds, a hospital is a good spot, where Susan can get away from the media, the crowds, the constant attention.
The choice to enter a hospital was a wise move on Susan’s part because she will have the peace and quiet to recover from the last seven weeks.
As per usual, Susan is faced with a media frenzy and close scrutiny, no matter what she does or where she goes. Speculation and rumors are running at an all time high about Susan’s mental health.
Piers mentions that no one has lived through what Susan has experienced. She’s gone from obscurity to becoming a worldwide phenomenon.
Susan certainly gave no sign of being fragile. She delivered a remarkable final performance, stepping up to the plate when pressure was at an all time high and delivering the goods. If she’s feeling drained, it’s completely understandable.
Piers states that reports of Susan’s antics have been exaggerated. He feels she had too long to wait until the final performance and the negativity that crept in last week didn’t help matters.
Piers has spoken with Susan and says she is doing well–but taking needed time -to sleep, to eat, to do the normal activities that had been put on the back burner in the hectic past weeks.
Piers and Simon have received word from Susan’s doctor’s that she’s fine, just tired and drained.
Susan’s dream to sing professionally will be realized, so she has come out a winner, right where she has always wanted to be. As Piers mentions, papers, claiming “end of the dream” are spinning fiction. Susan’s dream has always been to be a professional singer. And that dream has come true. No one watching Susan sing doubts her awesome talent.

Thanks for posting this. I can’t imagine what she has gone through with all this. A rest will do her good.
She flew around the world in under 48hrs and back, sang for her mother in her memory, had the media shoving in her face every two minutes…she deserves time out. Interesting news.
Hi Susan & Glynis,
I notice recent news is leaning towards the exhaustion aspect instead of the breakdown angle.
Susan apparently fainted–but that is a far different cry from a mental breakdown.
thanks for the info Athlyn. If I were her, I would be a zombie. The media was very harsh with her “looks” then she tries to get a little more stylish and they bash her even more. She couldn’t win no matter what the poor woman did.
Thanks for that.

Is there a sliding scale with ‘a bit tired’ at one end, ‘exhaustion’ in the middle and ‘nervous breakdown’ at the other end? She’s probably somewhere around the second part of the scale.
I notice that recent reports are saying “Susan’s reported breakdown,” yet they aren’t citing their sources. Of course, shocking headlines sell stories and it seems as though monetary gain is the bottom line.
That said, I think Susan has done remarkably well under so much pressure. It’s too bad she didn’t win first place but she will go far with a voice like that.
The priory isnt a place to go to get rest.It is a serious psychiatric hospital. She became unhinged-nravelled like a ball of twine and now she is sedated- she is having a minmum of three different sedatives given and is sleeping most of the time. They dont want to let he rout.Susan did not want to go into the hospital but she totally lost it in the hotel-in fact right after the show in the wings- she is unstable.
And they are just protecting their assets. She is big dollar signs to them. Look she did well the first show but the next one she was off key and last one was so wishy washy…No she just wants to go home.
Hello Thelma,
While the Priory may be a place to treat mental health issues, this does not prove that Susan had a breakdown. Exhaustion and stress can manifest in symptoms that may need evaluation to rule out mental illness. Being at the priory does not automaticlly prove mental illness.
What sources do you have for the information you have stated?
Her second performance, Susan slipped right before she came out on stage. Who of us would not be off our game if we had nearly fallen? Even in this performance, rather than let the near fall get the better of her, Susan recovered and delivered a great rendition of Memories.
Her last performance, many feel, is one of the best.
