A rapper was recently released from prison only to be sent back. It’s amazing how fast that happened. What was the point of him being released from prison if he was going to end up going right back? He may as well have stayed in prison.
The news
Rapper T.I. was recently released from prison only to be sent right back there. T.I. was released from prison early for good behavior and was supposed to serve the rest of his 11-month sentence in a halfway house. Police officers witnessed him going to the tour bus. He was supposed to be escorted by a van, but he went in the tour bus.
Once he got to the halfway house, the police warden ordered T.I. to go back to prison. According to the warden, T.I. said he would go to the halfway house in the van and not a tour bus. T.I. was supposed to let police officials know what he would be riding in when he went to the halfway house. Since he failed to disclose that information, he was ordered back into custody.
There were no drugs or alcohol found on the tour bus. When the police showed up at the halfway house to arrest T.I., the man in charge of the halfway house got in an argument with them. He thought it was ridiculous for T.I. to have to go back to prison for something like that. The police didn’t care and took T.I. back to prison.
There is no word as to how long T.I. will have to serve his sentence.
My thoughts
I think this is a ridiculous reason to send T.I. back to prison. There are worse crimes being committed than going to a halfway house in a tour bus. I could see if he didn’t go to the halfway house or if the bus had drugs and alcohol on it. If either of these things happened, then he should be back in prison. Maybe someone is trying to set him up so he could remain in prison.
What are your thoughts on this story? Do you think T.I. should be back in prison for this violation or do you think the police are being hard on him?

great article and very well presented. thanks for sharing.
It does seem like a stupid reason especially with the American prison system over crowded already.
I think the police are being too hard on him. The prisons are already full and we do not need other people in there for no good reasons when people are killing people and getting out of jail because of overpopulations.
Good article!
Interesting case. I don’t understand, if he is free, why can’t he choose van or tour bus? If van is a must, was the person well-informed the consequence if he switches the transport?
Really unique case. If it is applied in my country the prison will be full.
Cheryl, it totally depends upon what the mandates that were set up upon his release and being sent to a halfway house. Going to the halfway house does not mean his sentence was completed as the completion is contigent upon following all of the mandates. This could have turned ugly and someone could have been hurt. It was needless if he had done as ordered. It is very difficult to maintain security if rules and restrictions are not honored and respect given. It must be carefully weighed and balanced. His early release was based upon his having followed mandates up until that time, and the small taste of freedom caused him to feel he could do other than what was agreed upon. There is not much flexibility here, but would have been once he had completed the halfway house treatment.
At least we are strict unlike other countries. I just read an article from someone that a man ran over a pedestrian with his bike and got away with a minor fee of $3.75. The man died a few weeks later. This happened in Toronto.
I agree with you that I.T should not be sent to a prison. The sentence must be weighed seriously and followed a fair mandatory rule.
Doesn’t seem quite fair to me.
I am not familiar with your laws, but maybe the police should have considered his case.
To avoid any inconveniences, just follow the proper authority and behave accordingly.
nice work
Oh too bad for TI…
I’m a little confused. What gets my attention is that ‘he was supposed to be escorted by van, but, he went by tour bus.’ Did they consider him in prison custody until he reached the halfway house? If so, NOT getting on the van is a violation, in their eyes and that’s why he was returned. However, they stood there, saw the tour bus pull up, and watched him get on the bus. It’s not like the tour bus slipped on to the property and he secretly got on the bus. And if he was supposed to be in their custody, why wasn’t a guard assigned to him. I am thinking the warden saw the opportunity to get some free publicity. Is this a private facility or state?
I also think it’s ridiculous for him to go back to prison if he was already out, but it could also be for misconduct since he failed to disclose information. you know how stupid cops can be sometimes and the prison is already full as it is. I doubt he will be in there for too long.
The police are overzealous here. They want to show how well they are doing their duty.
That seems very odd to do. The police seems so embraced with technicality.
so bad of them, poor man, thanks for sharing this news with us.
a strange concept of justice!
Is that the real reason?
