Autopsy of Amy Winehouse inconclusive.

I was sitting in my car Sunday afternoon on the way to a graduation party in New Jersey when there was a broadcast on the radio.  I listened to the man on Z100 telling the world that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment.  At first I thought it was some kind of joke but then I realized it was true.  My first reaction to the news was that it must have been drug related.  Anyone who knew anything about Amy Winehouse knew that she had a very public problem with drugs and alcohol for many years.  In fact, in recent years her own parents went public with their thoughts that they were soon going to lose their daughter to her addictions.

Amy Winehouse was a famous singer.  She had great songs (some of which I even have on my Ipod) like Back to Black, You know I’m no good, and Rehab.  The 27 year old had what most would consider a charmed life.  Yet, she could not get away from her addictions, even after spending time in rehab.  Friends and family alike tried to make her straighten up but to no avail.

Although her parents and many others believe her death to be drug related the jury is still out.  As it turns out the autopsy performed was inconclusive and it may take weeks to figure out what she actually died from.  Because of this her funeral has been put on hold.

If her death was due to drugs, will it be a lesson to other actors and actresses out there who are struggling with addictions?  One would hope people would learn from her mistakes. Amy Winehouse was only 27 when she passed away.  Had she really wanted to she could have saved herself but her parents knew she could not be swayed, this was the way she lived and the way she died.  Rest in Peace Amy Winehouse.
