Great news for the Wisconsin protestors! The Packers are on your side.
News from Wisconsin. The NFL repleased this statement:
“The NFL Players Association will always support efforts protecting a worker’s right to join a union and collectively bargain. Today, the NFLPA stands in solidarity with its organized labor brothers and sisters in Wisconsin.”
What screams “red-blooded American” more than football? And how can any Wisconsinite, pro-union or not, attack their beloved Packers?
This statement isn’t surprising. After all, Bill Maher did point out that football is, in essence, Socialist. The teams have salary caps and the teams that do the worst get the best draft pick.
Look at the Packers, they are owned by 112,158 fans. They aren’t owned by any corporation or wealthy owner, they are owned by the public.
And their name, “The Packers”? They are even named after workers, the meat-packers
So, it’s not shocking the NFLPA supports the unions, it wouldn’t be shocking if Packer, and Superbowl MVP, Aaron Rogers speaks up in support of the unions. It’s only shocking that, in a state where their local football team is publicly owned and named after hardworking, union workers, workers rights are being threatened.
