There is a long list of A-list celebrities that adhere to the Scientology belief, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, even the late great Marlon Brando, but not actor Josh Brolin.
In fact according to The New Yorker Brolin found the religion to be quite bizarre. In a feature about screen writer and director Paul Haggis the New Yorker asked Josh Brolin about his brief encounter with the religion.
The True Grit star claims to have witnessed some pretty strange things. One incident involved long time Scientologist John Travolta and Marlon Brando,
“I watched this process going on–it was very physical, I was thinking, ‘This is really f**ing bizarre! Then, after ten minutes, Brando opens his eyes and says, ‘That really helped. I actually feel different!”
John Travolta denies the incident every happened. Haggis says the church has a strong anti-gay slant which troubled him because of his beliefs in social justice and the fact that many members of the church are rumored to be gay. Paul Haggis was a member for thirty-five years before eventual rejecting the church.
