What Contributed to the Death of Michael Jackson?

The death of a mega star has caught the entire country off guard. MJ’s untimely demise has caused many to speculate about his life and what caused his end.

We are often our own worst enemy. This proved true during the life of MJ.

There are many speculations of what ultimately killed “The King of Pop”. Over the last few years, the picture of MJ has become clearer and clearer. From looking at him during the 2005 trials, it was obvious that MJ was malnourished. His light blue pajama pants seemed to barely stay on him as he slowly walked towards the courthouse with a cane. Before the publics eye was an emaciated pop icon. Some looked in disbelief as Michael arrived sickly and disinterested in his future. This was the same man who moon walked his way into our hearts in 1983.

Michael Jackson was born a perfectionist from the time he entered the music industry at the tender age of 5. He had a voice like an angel and a spirit of a professional. Many of the people who worked with MJ often said that he worked hard at his craft. But it is possible that he worked himself to death? Did MJ push himself so hard that he could not come back from it? It is possible.

Michael Jackson was his worst critic. He was overly self conscious and shy. During several interviews, MJ admitted that he never liked what he saw in the mirror. He even admitted to one child fan that he was happy, but never satisfied. Those words said a lot about what MJ was going through mentally. Enough was never enough for the pop icon. He continued to push himself to the brink until he couldn’t push anymore.

What made it even worse was his prescription drug use addiction. Sources say MJ was addicted to pain killers. He was self medicating a pain that was too deep for conventional medication. What Michael needed was Jesus. He was seeking something spiritually. He wanted to be loved and validated. He thought fame and money could bring him that, but it didn’t. Instead his desire to be loved grew. It became a bottomless pit.

His heart was broken for years and years. He was going about his problem the wrong way. What he needed, he never received.

In the end what killed MJ was MJ. He died of cardiac arrest on Thursday June 25, 2009. His heart could not take it anymore and Michael finally went too far this time. Rest in peace. We will always love you.
