It is commendable that these stars are stepping up to help those abroad. We need you to come home and help save lives. We need you now.

The stars, rich and the famous, what ever you want to call them are beginning a new trend. In increasing numbers, these people are promoting attention to international causes and plights. While what they are doing overseas is commendable, it is time they come home.

We are gearing up for what could be the most pivotal Presidential Election in modern history. The possibility of a woman and or person of color manning the White House has never been stronger. George Clooney is out of the country addressing the travesty in Dafur. Oprah while setting up and funding learning institutions in Africa has thrown her powerful influence behind a candidate. The interesting point in her choice is Oprah did not give he nod to a woman as expected but to a male. Her candidate Barack Obama is a tantalizing selection as he is not Afro-American but of pure African-American descent. His father is a black man born in Africa. His mother is a born in America white woman. A controversial decision that is not enough at a time we need more. Both George’s and Oprah’s effort are commendable, but as I said it time to come to the people.

I am against star power influencing an election. On the other hand, I will contradict myself. We need George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and whoever else to come forward use their influences in another way. Our medical health care system is failing the American people by the millions. The cost rise, the pool of uninsured families rises by the thousands everyday, and hundreds of thousands die due to the inability to get proper medical care. (Read the article: The American Health care Crisis) I am calling you all out to step forward, band together and address a crisis that is literally sitting at the step of your front door.

The system as a whole needs to be come together because what should be our greatest asset is killing us one by one, family by family. As the overall health care is declining, mental health care is ever more tenuous and corrupt. No one candidate is stepping forward and defining a plan. Yes, John Edwards seized the moment to claim he was the first “08 candidate to offer a solution. The problem is in his moment of “carpe diem” he gives us nothing specific. For instance in reading his plan (Click Here to Download free) he tiptoes around the details in favor of political bluster. (Read: Defining Mental Health care Coverage: The John Edwards Plan ) Hillary Clinton”s health care video spot does much the same. The candidates state the needs but they do not address the solutions.

This is why we need the George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey star power at home. The candidates will all spend million of dollars fighting to get your vote. None will spend one dollar toward defining answers on health care. People are dying here at home. The elderly have to choose between eating or affording medication. The Phil Hartman family travesty is the billboard of the flaws of mental health care. There are thousands more out there, who need your help. Folks it is time to bring it home and address the issues of dying Americans due to inadequate health care. I will say it again. I am calling George and Oprah and every other famous person or person of wealth and power out to bond together and demand not only the Presidential candidates but also every person politically connected to put an end to this quagmire. The failure of the health care system is undermining the greatness of our country.

So, George, Oprah and the rest, I put this question to you. Will you step up and take up the mantle or will you abandon those who need you at home? People are dying here, too.
