08′ VP debate.
The purpose of this paper is to represent the importance of the role and who is more able to represent the position and assist the President of the United States of America. The vice president, is part of the executive branch, is the first person in the presidential line of succession, which means that the vice president becomes the new President of the United States when or if something happens to the president. I think that this role should be only carried out by the intelligent and the experienced. The three main things that Sarah Palin and Joe Biden disagreed on were issues on war, energy, and taxes.
The war was the biggest issue that is going to sway people’s votes, according to most polls. The big factor of play is that should we pull the members of our military or should we not? Sarah Palin said that “Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God,” she said. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God’s plan.” She believes that the war in Iraq is a plan from God and if you pray to him, all will be good and go as God’s plan. Joe Biden believes that we should pull out of Iraq. He says that “This Administration has dug us into a very deep hole internationally. We need to end the war in Iraq and to restore our place in the world.” Senator Joe Biden has proven to the people of United States of the cost and lives we put out to be in war with other countries. I think that Joe Biden is correct and we should pull out of Iraq and let the people of their country decide what to do now, even though Sarah Palin shows it a sign of giving up and waving the white flag of surrender.
The next big factor is the use of energy for the United States. The differences between both the vice president nominees is that Sarah is for drilling the gas, while Joe
Biden is sure that they should work on alternative fuels. Sarah Palin wants to drill in Alaska, which is the state that Sarah is the governor. Joe Biden thinks that they should use oil, but should fund ways to get alternative fuel and make the world a better environment. I also agree on Joe on this issue to, but I agree with Sarah when it comes to drilling in Alaska because if they do find a way to do alternative fuel the oil in Alaska will become a waste and the Americans could’ve made plenty of money that they needed, because of their debt.
The last and final disagreement that Joe and Sarah had was on taxes. Joe Biden and Barack Obama have a plan to increase taxes for people that have an income of 250,000 or more. Sarah Palin said that we weren’t making it fair for small business owners. I also think that small business owners should also get a bigger tax cut then for their property or something. So that the tax cut will be effective and the small business owners will get some of their money back. I think this will be able to make more revenue and help create the debt of the government to other nations in the world.
I think Joe Biden won because he showed us the facts and how the Obama campaign is the way to make America the better place. He seemed to be very confident and calm during the whole debate. The debate was Palin’s first time to show Americans what she is made out of. She showed that she knows what she’s talking about and isn’t clueless even with her inexperience. I think that the debate had its strengths from both of its sides, so I declare the debate to be a tie between Sarah and Joe.
