19.2 Pound Big Baby

Indonesian mother gives birth to the country’s largest baby of 19pounds and 2 ounce delivered by cesarean section. The currently unnamed baby was delivered on Monday in a public hospital in the North Sumatra. The gynecologist, Binar Sitanggang, who administered the delivery, said “This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him out of his mom’s womb. His legs were so big.”

The main concerns are for the health and well being of child. The boy is said to be healthy although the baby boy needed some oxygen after birth to assist with breathing. The gynecologist states the healthiness of the baby of non she has seen before; “This baby boy is extraordinary; the way he’s crying is not like a usual baby. It’s really loud.”

The boy’s size is believed to be due to his mother having diabetes. The glucose level in mother’s body was higher than the target range. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, high blood glucose levels during pregnancy increase the risk of having a very large baby.

This baby boy was Indonesia’s largest baby but not the world’s largest. According to Guinness Book of World Records the biggest baby weighed 23 pounds, 12 ounce and was 30 inches long. He was born in 1879, but unfortunately died shortly afterwards.
