Re-employment over age 55 is nearly impossible. What is AARP doing about it-absolutely nothing.

The highest rate of unemployment is in people over 50. This is nothing new 20 years ago it was true to; in all this time AARP has done absolutely nothingto try to rectify this situation. They never even really bring it up; they sweep it under the table. Everyone knows that AARP is a democratic liberal organization. People pay them money every year to represent the interests of older Americans yet they continue to ignore this growing problem. People over 48 are the first to get laid off and find it the hardest to find employment. Given the current economic conditions the 50 plus crowd has about zero percent change of reemployment. There are programs for 18-22 years to get summer work with stimulus money, but no programs to get 50 year olds retrained or gainfully employed. This will come back to hurt this country even more, because this generation of baby boomers have no retirement plans to fall back on like a generation ago, and too many are having to take early social security with drastically reduced payment to just keep food on the table.

So my suggestion is don’t give AARP your money until they make this problem their number one agenda item and get Congress passing legislation and money to stimulate jobs and retraining for the over 50 crowd.I’d like to hear your suggestions.
