A Catholic Priest decides that he is tired and decides that he will make his secret be shown to the public.What was that secret and why has everyone been talking about it so much?
Alberto Cutie, also known as “Padre Alberto” or “Father Alberto”, was born April 29,1969 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He became a Catholic Priest for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami in 1995. Was the President and General Director of ” Radio Peace”. Was named one of AARP’s new Hispanic Ambassadors. Now, he has made news that has been making many of people’s minds go wild. On May 5,2009, TVnotas, A famous Hispanic magazine, posted a few picture that have shocked many people that followed Father Alberto. The pictures showed Father Alberto with another woman called ,Ruhama Cannelis, in some compromising positions in the beach. Many people denied it and said it was fake. The pictures were real! Why would he let himself be discovered until now?
There have been many scandalist news about other priests sexually molesting children they knew and about priests doing other things you would not like your priest to do. This one is nothing like it. It probably crossed many boundaries and have made many people think ways they never thought they would think.Why can’t priests get married? One answer, a long long time ago right about in the 4th century, many catholic were indeed married and their was no problem with it. Later in time the catholic church made a rule that said that priest cannot get married and it was final. There are many people that think they know the answer, but for me there was no exact answer ,everything I found was an answer. Some say that priests have to be celibate, which means they cannot have sex. Other say that the Catholic Church made this rule because if the priest happened to die and was married or had kids, all of his things would most likely be given to the family members and the Catholic Church would get nothing. The Catholic Church does not want “nothing” so the rule was made so they won’t get just ” nothing”. Which really seems like the right answer ? Do you think that Catholic priests should get married?
There is a way that you can get really close to the Catholic Church and be married. That position is called a deacon. A deacon is a person who is closest to a priest. A deacon swears that if something ever happens to his wife and his wife happens to die, he will never ever remarry. If something did happened to his wife and she did die, that deacon can then continue his desire of becoming a Catholic Priest. Would you become a deacon? Do you think that becoming a deacon is really something many people would do after getting married?
Father Alberto did leave the Catholic Church and joined the Episcopal Church later after the pictures came out. Alberto Cutie appeared on a show called ” Aqui y Ahora” on Univision for an interview. He was asked if he wished to marry. On June 16,2009 Alberto Cutie married Ruhama Canellis. He was done and happy. What if something would happen to Ruhama, not saying that it will god forbid, but if something did happen to her what will Alberto do? If she dies will Alberto return to the Catholic Church?

The rules about celibate priests are part of Catholic tradition, but not a Biblical command. In fact, the Bible says that it is better to be married than to burn with passion. I think that a lot of the problems with Catholic priests and sexual abuse would be solved if they were allowed to be married.

Father Albert Cutie did not do anything wrong. He is a good human being and has always been devoted to God. At least he wasn’t caught at the beach in the arms of another man. I don’t think people should be so judgmental about what happened. Yes, he was in the priesthood and maybe he should of renounced as soon as he discovered that he was madly in love with this woman but he didn’t. That still doesn’t make him a bad person. Everybody makes mistakes, if you want to call it a mistake. I personally don’t think that falling in love with someone is considered a mistake. I admire Father Albert Cutie very much for taking that big step and marrying the woman of his dreams. As for the media and the paparazzi’s, I am sure they don’t have anything else to say….
This was not a “scandal” except in the eyes of the media. The treatment of Alberto Cutie by the diocese of Miami was pathetic, and there is no reason for him to ever return to the Catholic chaurch.
As far as I am concerned. And I am Catholic, a priest should be able to marry, so that he may advise those who come to him. The bible does not say that a priest cannot marry. It tells us to go forth and multiply. Father Albert Cutie did nothing wrong. Love is a strong emotion and sometimes two people are meant to be together. The newspapers and photographer like to take a piece of news and destroy people. Freedom of press my butt, if they truly wanted to report the news, they should do it properly, here they made a scandal that was totally disgusting.
