It is time for an intervention! Let us break our chains of oil slavery! We need alternate energy technologies!
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any” After paying less than $1.60 and feeling ripped off, I decided to conduct my own survey on the feelings of people in my area. I received comments such as “I feel like I’ve been ripped off,” “Some gas shortage!”, and “Please, sir, can you rip me off some more?” Now gas is edging back to over $2.00 and I cannot figure out how that is happening when the barrel price is under $65.00. What economic principle or who is setting the price?
As a nation, we have become slaves to the Oil Producers, Oil Dictators, Oil Speculators, and Wall Street. In 2007, the United States imported around 58% of the petroleum products we used. During that same time, our president George W. Bush was quoted to say, “It is clear our nation is reliant upon big foreign oil. More and more of our imports come from overseas.” Our leaders knew this in 2007 while gas prices were on the rise and nothing was done to break this trend and our chains of addiction!
As we bent backwards for these stupid, greedy oil-producing countries, they showed little care for their own people. These corrupted leaders grew fat on oil profits. In addition, as Hitler blamed Germany’s Jews prior to World War II, these oil fat dictators use the American People as scapegoats. As if, our need for oil causes all the problems of the world! Let us hope that we wise up and break our chains of slavery before some terrorist creates another 9-11!
It is time for an intervention! Let us break our chains of oil slavery! We need alternate energy technologies!
Be proactive! Let’s start our intervention by emailing the manufacture of your current car, or when you get an advertisement let them know that you want a 40+ MPG on a car. These short sighted executives are so out of touch that the last time I purchased a car, the Dealer couldn’t tell me the MPG (that’s Miles per Gallon) of any of the cars on his lot. I chose to buy a car from another auto dealership. For those you who do not think the auto industry can reach this goal remember this little fact, within six months of the hybrid car craze starting, Cadillac came up with a hybrid Escalade! They can do it if they have the right motivation. So if you need a car think about recycling and buy used until these automaker get smart.
Remember when Grandma yelled about closing the lights before you leave a room or about lowering the thermostat? Well, take her advice and lower you bills. Every little thing you do will help us break the chains of oil slavery. Weather proof your home!
Drive less if you can, if you have public transportation in your area, Use It! Think about it! For every mile saved that’s one less dollar in the pocket of the oil masters. If you can carpool do it! Ralph Nader once said, “The use of solar energy has not been opened up because the oil industry does not own the sun.” He was right! It has been over thirty years since the first Oil Crisis in this country and our government has not done anything progressive in terms of energy. We have not had a real energy policy for years!
Finally, pressure your State Legislators and Congressman to get serious about Energy. They will not do anything about our slavery to oil. We need to pressure them. Sure Oil is approaching $1.50 in some areas, but that’s because the speculators almost put us in a depression and the oil companies do not want us to pursue alternative fuels. Some states such as Florida are putting together Solar Hybrid Energy Plants. Why isn’t every State thinking as progressively? They won’t without your feedback.
You may say that you don’t have the time to do this and I can understand. Nevertheless, if you can’t do it for yourself, break the chains of Oil Slavery for the sake of your children and grandchildren. Congressman Barton once said, “What a curious phenomenon it is that you can get men to die for the liberty of the world that will not make the little sacrifice that is needed to free themselves from their own individual bondage.” Don’t let them suffer as we have in Oil Slavery. Call or email your representatives today and let them know that our Freedom is worth more than a barrel of Oil. We need to break these chains so our kids can live free.

Wonderful article. Our society of instant gratification needs to learn the sometimes self sacrifice, principle and our future is more important than the NOW!!
