Can America’s economic problems be fixed?

The failure of the social programs of the past is that they had no income producing elements inherent in their inception. They gave a few jobs to administrators and facilitators, but they didn’t produce income. They taught many people trades that they couldn’t find jobs in those fields. They didn’t provide graduates with the basic understanding of having a business plan. Most of the programs didn’t so much as provide their graduates with a set of tools so that they could set up business in their own communities. Then there were/are the licenseing restrictions that left them further out in the cold. If the programs would at least have shops that would offer services in the communities at affordable rates the program participants could learn, earn and pay back into the program all at the same time. The past programs of the Democratic Party were all about renewing grants. The Republican Party considered it a waste of time and money (rightly so). The 2 parties wouldn’t put their heads together to come up with policies that would be beneficial to all concerned. So when the grants are cut, the programs disappear, unemployment goes up and poverty increases because of the holes inherent in the war on poverty. What President Obama must do is find a way to make the social programs sustain themselves, thus, pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps might be more than just a cliche’.
