Confronting the issues of how some of us vote. We all have motives and reasons why we do what we do.
It is very possible that 2009 will be the first year that America has an African American President. Wow, Wow, Wow! Thought I’d never see the day that this would happen. I truly believe that if Barack Obama becomes president it will be based upon his campaign for change and not because of the color of his skin. However, my question for you today is, How many of you out here are voting for Obama simply because he’s African American? I am hearing comments and feedback concerning Obama from all over the color spectrum. To my surprise, there are many individuals voting for Obama that I would have suspected to vote for McCain. Simply because Obama’s African American and McCain’s caucasian. I know some of you are probably thinking how dare I make references and judgements about certain individuals based on their race. To be quite honest, I believe that this entire election is secretly surrounded by thoughts and fears concerning race, but most of us are too afraid to admit or face these realizations about ourselves and others. Personally I have heard both Obama and McCain’s debates and I have concluded that I need a much higher power than I to figure out who’s right for this presidency. So I choose to make prayer and quiet time a big part of coming to a decision of who I will vote for. So if you are voting for Obama and it’s because of his race, be aware of your choices and own them. As we live, we grow and we learn. Life is about choices, living, and learning. Make the best of the choices that you believe in because the bed we make, we shall lie in it. Take Care. Happy Voting! Vote, vote, vote!!!!!!

As a white former Republican I am voting for Obama because he is the best person to lead us out of the mess George Bush has gotten this country into. At this time in American history we need to put race and religion out of politics and vote for someone who is smart and highly intelligent!
I also know plenty of white GOP people where I live who will never vote for Obama because of his skin color, so the issue of race works both ways.
I am a Native American Democrat and I am voting for Obama purely on the fact that I believe he is the best person to lead this country. I also share the same views as he does. It doesn’t matter what the color of his skin is, it is not the reason why I chose to vote for him.
Just as you stated, many of us will not devulge how we really think and feel. The politically correct thing to do is keep our true feelings to ourselves, and often follow the crowd. Just look at the potential black vote. Now, I know they cannot all be democrats and/or liberals. I also know that, just like everyone else, they all think differently and have different opinions. However, it’s estimated that somewhere around 90% to 95% of the black vote will go to Obama. This supports the fact that many vote, based on race alone. The same can be said about looks, charisma and elequant speaking, all, the wrong reasons to cast a vote.
