The arrogance of man and it’s shortcomings.
The continuation of scientists, politicians and lobbyists about fickle issues such as Global Warming is not but the absurd ramblings of arrogance. Yes, Global Warming is changing the environment and yes, it’s our fault and yes, there are ways to prevent it. But no, it is not damaging Earth. It is only damaging the steady environment which has permitted life to exist. Earth will continue to exist long after the effects of Global Warming, and even after a series of meteor attacks it will continue to exist – yet damaged or in small pieces, but nevertheless it will always be.
It is the Arrogance of Man then that infuriates me. Man will go to such lengths as to say that they must save the planet for the planets sake, rather than admitting it is for mans own selfish reasons. If man would just admit to this arrogance, or even acknowledge it, then there would be no problem. Survival is absolute. Arrogance is choice. One makes the intellectual decision to be arrogant, but to survive, is written into our DNA, woven into us through billions of years of evolution.
Or maybe arrogance is not much of a choice as one may think. One could suggest that it is arrogance on my part by merely writing this article and defaming mans arrogance. One could also suggest that arrogance is not all together a bad thing. Why, it’s built empires, won wars and even won hearts.
Perhaps then it is not only arrogance that is the problem here, but honesty. It is important for man, collectively and individually, to get the right balance of honesty and arrogance. If one is too honest then they risk being foolish, or even heartless. If one is too arrogant, then they risk making a complete imbecile of themselves, like scientists, politicians and lobbyists of our world.
My advice, stay shtum and hope no one asks you any awkward questions, although, if they do you could just make it up, right? There’s no harm in that, is there?

Bravo. Kurt Vonnegut said that “The E arth will shrug us off eventually, just another in the list of failed species” I’m paraphrasing but that’s basically the sentiment. Arrogance tinged with avarice seems to drive our thinking.Let’s tell the developing world that they can’t have the freedom of the open road that we have enjoyed for the last hundred years, nor access to the creature comforts such as air-conditioning or the joy of a roaring fire on a winter night.Let’s drive up the price of food by running cars on bio-fuel that takes countless gallons of badly needed water to produce, whilst fattening the wallets of the fat f150 driving farmers with yet more subsidies. I say drill in Alaska, let’s eat the caribou and tag the polar bears so that we can bet on how far one of them can swim before he drowns.I have seen Alaska on t.v. , I’m not going and neither are you.Let G.M. build a bunch of small cars and send them off to China while the dollar is still weak enough to make our exports affordable to the new wannabes in the Orient.Consume consume consume.Let the kids worry about it!
