A hopeful surge of emotions regarding Obama’s presidency.

I sense a surge of hope for the promises Obama has made. Is he really “The One” that the new America needs? Barack Obama has made his intentions clear during the campaign period. He has shown a new face of the nation – one that is welcoming, one that is liberal and one that listens.

America is a “melting pot” of different races from all over the world. And it has a very broad and colorful history that can attest this.

But what will happen in January 20, 2009 is something that the world has to see and anticipate. It’s the first of the many things that has happened to this nation. Americans have matured in their thinking and have become more liberated in terms of acceptance and dominion of power.

It has always been said that whoever is the president of the United States of America is the most powerful man in the world. Movies, media and so many other public oriented groups have often claimed that the president indeed has the most coveted political position in the world.

The big question is – is Barack Obama the ONE that we are searching for? In these times of distress, is he our 911 that will answer all our calls? America’s or shall I say, the world’s fate depends on this one man now!

He looks sincere and true to his words. For an ordinary citizen like me, I have high hopes for this country. I am an immigrant and I left my country of origin to embrace the promises of USA. I, just like the millions of immigrants who now live here in America, have chosen to fulfill my dreams in this land of greener pastures.

Is is still a land of greener pastures? I still believe, it is. There are many resources that need to be tapped and put to good use. We just have been so busy with all our lives – with how fast – paced our lives are, that we have forgotten the natural resources that are still very much abundant around us.

On January 20, this nation will see a different face in the White House – that of Barack Obama. I have mixed emotions about this inauguration. I feel hopeful, excited and scared.

I feel hopeful because Obama’s promises seem practical and achievable. On the other hand, the guy cannot do all these by himself. He needs a thousand and one army of men to help him achieve these goals.

I feel excited because this is a first in the history of the nation that an African-American will hold the most coveted political seat in the whole world. Excitement comes with anticipation of what hill happen in the months to come.

I feel scared because of the possible outcome of Obama’s inauguration. Will everyone accept him open mindedly and with sincerity? Hopefully, everyone will give him a chance – the way they did when they elected him to be President of this nation.

It seems natural for all of us to expect. After all, we are putting all our burdens on Obama’s shoulders. I believe the best thing for us to do is help!!! Help achieve Obama’s promises by doing the right, humane things.

The big question still lurks in my mind – Is HE THE ONE? Let’s wait and see. Rejoice and clap our hands if he is indeed the ONE. But don’t cast stones on him, if he does not live up to our expectations, rather, let the expert politicians and lawmakers help him alleviate this nation from the pit that we are in right now.

Obama is not an action star like Jet Li (in the movie THe ONE). He is neither a magician nor a fortune teller. He’s an ordinary man in an extraordinary seat – the President of the United States of America.
