In the passed I have accepted that the BNP are on the right, but almost never in the right. But every time I see then up in court I can’t help but feel that they are not only in the legal, but also the moral right. This honestly brings me to question why people would be so foolish as to take such legal action in the first place.

In the passed I have accepted that the BNP are on the right, but almost never in the right.   But every time I see then up in court I can’t help but feel that they are not only in the legal, but also the moral right.  This honestly brings me to question why people would be so foolish as to take such legal action in the first place.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m an educated liberal kind of man, who easily sees through the simple message of the BNP.  I see that it is wrong, and I see that it is foolish.  But I also see why people vote for the BNP.  I can see that, in times of change they want security.  I can see that the complexity of the world is confusing, and a simpler world tempting, even if it’s worse.  But more than that, I believe in democracy and debate.  I believe that in a democracy a party with electorate support like the BNP forms an important part of the democratic process.  They pressure political parties, and represent genuine popular sentiment.  If we really believe in democracy we should embrace the BNP as representing what the people want; what else is democracy for?  Not only that but I think that the BNP should be allowed to speak publicly; at universities, in town squares, in churches for all I care.  The role of ideas and debates are key to developing people’s understand of complex issues.  Let the simpletons come, let them expose their ignorant, ridiculous views.  Let them be rightly ridiculed.

So you can see that I would be reluctant to take the side of the BNP can’t you?  You can see why taking the side of BNP members would upset me; be odious to me?  Then why must certain people keep forcing me to do it?!?  The BNP were taken to court to question their right to freely express their point of view.  They won the case.  Of course they won the case, who could really stands up against freedom of speech in a free society?  I’ll tell you who; the people who are worse than the BNP, the people who would have us shackled in some liberal inspired hell.  So, I had to stand up for the BNP, you understand right?  I had no choice; they were the lesser evil here.

Once again I find myself with no choice, once against the BNP are under fire.  This time, a party that believes in a separate but equal policy of racial segregation, is having its right to not allow non-white people into its party questioned.  Now, I think it is clear to us all the BNPs political ideology means that no non-whites should apply; to allow them too would be a waste of everyone’s time.  It is the BNPs party, it is funded by their member, who they allow in is their business.  This course case is a waste of time and again another attack on freedom.  In the fight to defend ourselves against some neo-fascist parties minor poll success, who in their right mind thinks that frivolous anti-libertarian law suits are the way forward?  Not only do they attack the liberty that we all should hold dear, but also they generate invaluable publicity for the BNP.  How could be play into their hands better?

Its time we accepted democracy, warts and all.  Its also time we accepted that in a democracy the electorate should be allowed to hear speak, and vote for who they want.
