Sen. John McCain’s VP-pick, Gov. Palin, just admitted her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, is pregnant. Reporters have asked the McCain campaign if they were aware of this and if so, why it wasn’t revealed earlier that Gov. Palin is going through some “family difficulties”. But, McCain spokesman Steve Schmidt skirted the question by saying Gov. Palin is addressing it now, even though the Governor only revealed the matter after pressure from the blogosphere.

The newest baby joining the Palin family of Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig should be named “Math”, because if you do the “Math”, the Republicans just lost the election.

This is not “Baby-gate” this is “Vet-gate” as in McCain may be exagerrating that he thoroughly vetted his choice for VP. Real journalists should dig more into allegations that Palin had at most cursory vetting, that this was a spur-of-the-moment thing for such an important sign of a Presidential candidate’s judgement. Imagine, McCain, who may keel off any minute thanks to bouts with cancer, entrusts the full power of the United States nuclear arsenal on someone he hardly knows.

Case in point, if Gov. Palin tried firing someone who crossed her (the state troooper scandal where she fired her head of Public Safety supposedly for not firing her sister’s ex-husband who is embroiled in a custody battle), what’ll she do as President of the United States? Nuke countries left and right who cross her? Put people in jail and torture them when they’re a nuisance? Does John McCain know she would not do any of these things since it looks like she hasn’t been properly vetted.

People are saying we are being high and mighty for criticizing Gov. Palin for this latest flap (her hiding the fact that her 17-year-old daughter is 5 months pregnant). Nope, what we are criticizing is her hypocrisy. She’s against birth control. She is against sex education that teaches birth control. Then when her daughter gets knocked up, she hides it. Like she’s ashamed of it. Like she knows it is wrong for a 17-year-old to already have to take care of a baby and get married. Hey, if you don’t want kids to use birth control, then be proud when your kids get knocked up. If you’re not proud, then you shouldn’t have advocated it in the first place.

Palin: The Gift to Democrats that Keeps on Giving

First it’s revealed Palin’s husband has a DWI (driving under the influence) record when he was 22 when he was dating Sarah Louise Heath (Palin). Next her 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy. What’s next, her son going to Iraq gets rejected because of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”?

McCain’s a vet, but he certainly didn’t “vet” his VP. We already know his response, “McCain was a POW. He suffered under the Vietcong so he now has trouble with choosing people because it sounds too much like “Vet-cong”". Okay, that was a reach, but the absurdity of the situation merits it.

McCain’s now the laughing stock among Presidential candidates. Move over Ron Paul/Ralph Nader, you’ve just been one-upped.

Sen. Obama had this to say regarding the matter: “I have heard some of the news on this and so let me be as clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people’s families are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as governor, or her potential performance as a VP. And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and you know teenage children, that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that’s off limits.” (from http://election.swiftmob.com/content.html?page=1040&content=3157736&f=1)

Tell that to Karl Rove and his band of Swiftboaters. If this had happened to the Democratic VP nominee, expect the worse.
