An overview of the General election as it stands, and what the result may be, when it ends.
The country is poised for a possible, historic event. Whichever candidate
wins, history will be made on election day, tomorrow. There will be the
first African-American President or the first female Vice-President, in this
country’s history. It is truly an exciting time, in American political history.
If you watched any television on Sunday, any channel you switched to,
except maybe FOX news, showed Senator Barack Obama, with anywhere
from 286 to 343 electoral votes in his column, you would need 270 votes
on election day, to win the presidency. The national polls show him with
a lead of anywhere from 11% to 14%, depending on which poll you were
checking.
During the primary campaign, Senator Obama’s campaign was establishing
a ground game, preparing for the coming General election, should they win
the primary election. They established offices, in all the states, and
also accumulated names of people for a data base, to be used for their get out
the vote effort. The organization on the ground is superior, and the effort
is paying off for the campaign. Senator Obama’s experience as a community
organizer has helped his campaign in, beating Senator Clinton, and is now
seemingly helping him to be the victor in the General election. Senator
McCain, did not start to organize his troops on the ground, until two months
before election day, proving not to be a good idea. Governor Palin, made
a joke of Obama’s job, as a community organizer, saying that a Mayor’s
job was something like a community oranizer, but with responsibilities.
Well, we wonder who will have the last laugh. Honing one’s skills as a
person who mobilized individuals, in order to reach a certain goal, has
apparently served Senator Obama well. Senator McCain has been so caught
up in trying to tear Senator Obama down, that he forgot about, getting his
ground game together, and now he is trying to play catch up on many
levels. The Karl Rove mobilization team, has not shown up for Mr.
McCain, in full force.
The Obama campaign has also out raised the McCain campaign in funds,
mostly because Senator McCain opted for public financing, limiting him
to eighty-five million in campaign funds, while Senator Obama raised
some six hundred and fifty million dollars from his supporters. This
huge amount allowed the senator to carpet bomb the country, with ads
all over the place. He also bought time on five television stations, last
Wednesday evening, for a brilliantly, produced infomercial.
The Republicans are employing their usual slimy tactics of trying to
suppress the vote, by having too few voting booths at the precincts,
mailing cards to people, which give the incorrect election date, and
advising people that they cannot vote if they owe a parking ticket
fine or child support. At one precinct, it was reported that a Republican
had placed a coffin outside the place, with Obama’s name on it. It
is no wonder that the Republicans are being repudiated by the voters.
There will reportedly be, a pick up by the Democrats in the Senate of
between six and eight seats, and in the House of Representatives, no
less than twenty-five seats. Senator Elizabeth Dole, is set to possibly
lose her senate seat after one term, basically due to the fact that, the
people of North Carolina say, she has not been in the state, doing
anything for the people. Oh well. Maybe she should talk to Governor
Palin, to find out what the job of a senator would be. The Republican
party appears to be in a state of disarray and is in dire need of defining
what the party stands for, and to rid itself of some of the hate, that runs
through the party. They need a leader, and certainly not Sarah Palin,
although the base seems thrilled with her. She appears to be a nice person,
but among other things, she has no idea about the America government
system, the constitution, or subjects, that she speaks on. For instance,
she gave a speech about earmarks, the monies that are appropriated for
special projects, as well as bridges and roads, out of the Senate. She
mentioned that millions had been appropriated for the study of fruit
flies, and made light of such a thing, not realizing that the study, was to
help to determine, if a cure could be found related to autism, which is
what her own child suffers from. Oops!
The Democrats have found themselves in a similar position and made
their way back to sensibility. Republicans used to be the ones, who were
not in favor of big Government, unbalanced budgets, and other fiscal
non responsible positions. The last eight years of trillion dollar deficits,
and exploding national debt, has blown that image to high heck.
So we find ourselves in this place, awaiting election day, where a
very intelligent young man, who has been taken through the fire
by Senator Hillary Clinton, and now Senator John McCain, awaits
the outcome of tomorrow’s election. If Obama wins, it will be a new
day in American history. He will be inheriting the biggest deficit
and national debt in history, two wars, near financial collapse in
the economy. A housing crisis, an energy crisis, a near global
financial meltdown, a health care system in dire need of help,
a social security system, about to run out of funds, and an education
system that is below par on a global basis. He is admired around
the world, and the United States, will immediately regain a good
part of its stature as a world leader, if he is elected. His name
means blessed, we are told, and we certainly hope that his angels
will surround him, as this will be a huge task, that he will undertake,
should he become the forty-fourth President of the United States
of America.

I think I know who you’re voting for! It’s only obvious the different values and principles between the candidates!!!
I am an Obama supporter. I am saddened by the fact that he may become elected president today and his grandmother passed away a day too soon to see it.
