Two of my brothers in Christ are suing teachers who violated their right to exercise their faith.

I recently heard of a fellow Christian, an art student who was penalized by his art teacher for expressing his Faith through his art. I am writing this article because people should be allowed to express their faith, and to hinder the student from expressing his faith is a violation of his constitutional rights.

We are given religious freedom in this country, and no law or policy can be made hindering the free exercise thereof. The art piece was a landscape with a cross and a reference to John 3:16.

I fully support the artists right to express himself, I am deeply saddened by the coldness this world shows. God Loves people, all the student was trying to do was share that with those that view his art.

Some people may cry “separation of Church and State” but separation of Church and state simply means that no government institution can prevent an individual from exercising their faith.

The 1st amendment protects freedom of speech, and this applies to all people equally.

Another student, this one from California has sued his teacher for hate filled lectures.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech but when somebody is spewing hate-filled persecutory rhetoric that is beating down somebody’s faith that is something totally different.

Freedom of speech does not apply when the speech is actively and deliberately meant to incite violence against another person or group and/or hinders their constitutional and God given freedoms.

We are not in Hitler’s Germany !

I am not supporting censorship, I am simply saying that stretching the right of freedom of speech and allowng profane and derogatory rhetoric that is deliberately meant to instigate violence is wrong. Allowing such rhetoric is a violation of the constitution, and therefore stretching the constitution to allow such speech would be in itself a contradiction.
