In Obama’s recent address to Congress, he tried to dispell some of the common negativities of the Health Care Package shared among the american public. As the speech went on, it become appearent that he held an advisarial attitude against opponents and their views on the Health Care Package.

Multiple times throughout the speech, Obama lied about what was in the package.

  • He claimed that providing this bill passed, all those who had insurance would get to keep it. This is technically a truth, the bill says that employers must enroll all their employees into the government health care program OR face a penalty tax. I have not seen where this bill would replace private insurance, in essence, you would have 1 more insurance policy.
  • 2) Obama stated that illegal immigrants would not be able to receive health care from the government. This is a lie, the bill specifically states that health will be universally available to everyone, illegals included. I would assume this would be fine except for one catch, the illegals don’t pay taxes, you do, which means the illegals would be raping the system, getting a free ride. I have an idea, since you’re paying for services that illegals use heavily, why don’t you invite them to live with you, they can eat your food, use your utilities and whatever else suits their fancy, what difference does it make? They’re doing all that anyway just by you paying taxes which fund social programs that they rely on relentlessly. And finally my third point, Obama stated that materials and advice will not be created to assist the elderly through the “end of life” proccess. This is perhaps one of the most blatant lies that Obama has told so far. The bill states to the contrary very clearly.

I congratulate Congressmen Joe Wilson for calling Obama on his lies, but, I resent him for apologizing and resent John McCain for telling him to do so. This is fear and cowardice, if republicans can’t stand up for what they believe in the face of the name-calling tactics the democrats use, then what the heck are the doing in government?! It is for precisely that reason, I no longer consider myself republican, because I can say what needs to be said and take whatever the democrats have to say about it.
