Now that peace has finally materialized in Nepal,my memories of the violent past are ready to come out.

On first of March, 2002, my college was attacked by Maoist student group. The so called revolutionaries burnt down several computes and detroyed many more. Police arrives, fire brigade was called but by the time they arrived, the comrades were gone.

Officers were left evaluating the destruction and witness the utter failure of law and order in the country.

Those who are thinking that my college is in some remote area, with frequent visits from the revolultionaries, sorry, but it is in heart of the capital. About 20 minutes walk from the German embassy. I don’t understand what is the purpose of increasing the defense spending, hike in taxes and a purchasing sophisticated arms when there is no security even in the capital!

In districts like Rolpa, innocent civilians are killed almost everyday and the government response is such that you are ashamed to be a part of this society and this system.

I am burning though the flames in my college have long been extinguished. We all must understand that revolution doesn’t come through sword, gun battle and bombs.
