Obama had been canvassing for the end of the war in Iraq even before he became the president of US.It was not an election gimmick. He proved it when he came to power by taking concrete steps in that direction. It was just an example to show how he was genuinely concerned about peace. The Nobel Peace Prize committee was right, I think.
Yes I agree
I think he has some good intentions. But, let’s see if he really helps to make these changes before I decide whether or not I agree.
Interesting
Yes, I believe so!
According to Alfred Nobel the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”.
What has Obama done so far?
Have a laugh at Obama’s so called ‘peace’ prize

I heard he was nominated for this after being in office for 11 days…not exactly enough time to effect change. A great orator, yes: worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize….not hardly.
a peace price for a man sending more troops into war? he told us to pull troops out of afghanistan before the election. i always have to interpret the news the op´posite way to get the TRUTH.
next thing will be that vitamines are bad…watch out for that scam to kill us off slowly. look out for the Codex Alimentarius
I guess the whole world is happy with him after Bush!
Yes. He Deserves noble peace .
He is still at war in Afghanistan. But I believe he was given the award for what he may do in the future. This goes to show that the world has faith in President Obama and his visions of the future. He has come a long way in changing the global climate towards the USA. We will see what happens in the future, and when that comes to past, then we can answer if he truly was deserving.
the man has done nothing of note, except send an additional 40,000 troops into Afghanistan, and he is sending an additional number of US troops to fight in a war that will never end. This is explicitly against and exactly the opposite of the Nobel Peace Prize rules. So let me get this straight, if you don’t agree with me, i’ll send people over to your country to shoot you and your famil, and then I will win an award for peace?
Anyone supporting Obama clearly has no intelligence when it comes to politics. Time to read folks, not just watch the nightly news… Read from different sources online everyday, you will see the truth.
Obama has done more bad than good since he has been in office. He has gone back on more than half of his campaign promises. He has hired proven crooked tax cheats and liars to work in his cabinet. He hired many of the same exact people to work with him as George W. Bush did, after shouting “CHANGE” for a year and a half campaigning to change these people out. He has given big business trillions of dollars in bailouts, and left the common man to starve.
This whole Nobel Peace Prize is now labeled a sham. Not only has Obama done nothing at all except speak words to deserve this, HE STARTED ANOTHER WAR. Sound like a “Peace” patriot to you?
@lil roast beef:
“He is still at war in Afghanistan. But I believe he was given the award for what he may do in the future.”
Obama started this war in Afghanistan. He is *still* at war with Iraq. Get that straight. It is 2 wars, simultaneously.
Also, “talking about what he may do in the future” is not a qualification for winning the Nobel Peace Prize, read the definition of the rules. they state that the prize should go : “…to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity among nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
No “work” was achieved by Obama, only talk and political rhetoric so far.
mikey mike, I am quoting straight from the commitees mouth…he was given the award for his potential…and only time can tell if the award was warranted. For the record, Obama did not start the war in Afghanistan. President Bush did. Yes he is still at war in Iraq, but they have begun the pull out process and handing over duties to the Iraqi’s, plus we may never “fully” pull out of Iraq since we both know there are assetts there that the U.S. can not give up, whether you believe it is right or not. I also never said I agreed for him getting the award, I said only time will tell if he was truly deserving. There are tons of people that I can name off the top of my head right now, for what they have done, that would deserve the award. I can also tell you that the majority of those people do what they do, not to win the award, but to help others around them, to bring people up. Remeber, it is easier to destroy, than to create.
my opinion. i think he does.
yes he is… he’s deserving!
