It is a sweet surprise for lots of people, but a shock for few.

The new surprise announcement to the entire world on Friday, October 09, 2009 is the selection of President Barack Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize. Though according to many, he hasn’t achieved much, lot got excited and praised the selection team for their choice.

The 1984 Nobel Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa said Obama’s award shows that many greater things are expected from him in future. He also added that the prize is a “wonderful recognition of Obama’s effort to reach out to the Arab world after years of hostility.

Obama was also praised by another winner Mohamed ElBaradei, who is the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. He said that Obama has already provided an outstanding leadership, especially proved by his efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation.

But few are against to this. Eugene Rogan, director of the Middle East Center at Oxford University in England told this award as a “premature” one. He said “I know Obama is working with commitment towards peace from the start of his presidency. But he hasn’t achieved anything yet”.

Few others like radical Islamic leader Hanif Jalandhri said they are neither happy nor surprised by Obama’s award. Lot more leaders wished President Obama and said that they expect that this award will boost the president morally, to achieve more during his presidency period.

My personal opinion is, I do “Thumbs Up” to him, as I do like his presidency, more than previous one. Whatever may be, Congratulations to you dear president. Wish you all the best :-)
