Although I am not completely against abortion, I am not for it either. Nor could I just go out and kill someone who performs it.
The man that killed Dr. Tiller on Sunday will not face the death penalty?
I see this in two different ways:
1. The man that killed Dr. Tiller was acting out of defense for the children he was going to “kill”. He was obviously upset that Dr. Tiller was performing abortions. For many people out there (including myself) we don’t believe that abortion is the answer to a “mistake” pregnancy. It is afterall the dissolution, if you will, of a baby. It is taking a live fetus (which is still a baby) and killing it. We wonder why people do this. If you look at all of the options out there now a days, you would have to think that there is a better way. I have to admit that even though I am not for abortion, I am not completely against it either. I do think that if a mother is raped, or if it is a life and death situation, being neither would live if carried through, then something would need to be done. Sad as it is. If you think about it, could you carry a child that had been conceived by such a hate crime as rape? How would a woman emotionally handle it? How could she? Knowing that the baby inside of her was a constant reminder of what had so horribly happened to her. If your wife or sister, or even mother was facing death due to the birth of a child and this child had a minimal chance of surviving, would you be willing to take the risk? I don’t know that I could do either of the choices.
2. Premeditated Murder: Roeder had followed Tiller for some time and decided that it was justified to kill Tiller. He went to his church where he attended and shot Tiller in front of everyone there, threatening two others. If he had gone insane during the time why not just shoot the other people there too? Thank God he did not.
I believe that this hate crime should be punishable by the maximum amount allowed. If you are honestly that biblical, then don’t we all know that we don’t have to deal with this here, that God will deal with it when the time comes! Yeah, about that excuse. This world is just starting to go crazy and if we don’t do something about it then, even though I don’t have the beliefs of everyone in the world, we aren’t going to have much of a chance at survival ourselves.

This is thoughtful and a bit confused, thus it mirrors, to some extent, the world that we live in.
I think you hit it there – it sure is not a black and white issue.
i think that you hit it spot on.not because he was aginst abortions, but saving lives.shooting inside the church is just too much, church is a religious place not a place from hell.and to think i drive by that church everyday.
Did Dr Tiller perform legal abortions? If so the jury here has just voted for Premeditated Murder!
Murder…plain and simple…
Although I myself personally oppose abortion, I don’t believe it is right to kill someone to make my point. It is like the extremist environmentalists who torch up SUV’s in a car dealership as a means of protesting their negative impact on the environment. It defies logic and, in this case, is nothing short of premeditated murder.
Also, a church should be considered a place of refuge where people can go to and feel safe. It shouldn’t become a shooting gallery. If this man was trying to illustrate a point, he failed miserably and, if anything, it will probably have the opposite affect he was striving for.
Excellent piece. To kill a baby or a man is very sad. I cannot condone ither act. I did click I like it, though.
