As Barack Obama selects the members of his cabinet, he has many difficult decisions to make. I think he has made the selection of General Jones as his national security advisor with the intention that he would be able to do that job the best. Personally, I think the experience that Jones has will be extremely helpful to Obama due to his lack of foreign policy experience. Jones seems to be very intelligent, and will probably get any job done while in office. He has a forceful personality, but in the end that seems to be what is required to get things done. For example, the fact that “He was able to force all of the different parts of the US government to work together to make Jenin a model of economic hope” (Cooper), shows what Jones has to offer in Obama’s cabinet. While some may be uneasy with the fact that General Jones will be somewhat of a moderator between members of the cabinet and will have such a close relationship with the president, I think that he will once again bring to the situation his get-it-done attitude.
