I guess you cannot have an opinion anymore although the bill of rights states we do. Or better yet, you better keep your opinion to yourself.
The theory is Beck has lost too many sponsors over his “racist” comment regarding President Barack Obama.
Wow, has anyone read any of Barack Obama’s books? have you paid attention to the news and some of the comments he makes? There have been many things Obama has said that I have found to be racist. Whats next, if you don’t think like President Obama wants you to and you don’t follow him then you are black balled.
The White House spin machine is already in full spin cycle trying to deflect Barack Obama’s latest gaffe!
That was his comments on bowling like someone in the “special Olympics”. Or how about the comment made regarding the “white officer”, even though Barack Obama said he did not know the facts he clearly stated, the white police officer “acted stupidly.
When asked about the remark, regarding the bowling “Special Olympics”, the White House said the president did not intend to offend. It seems there have been a lot of cover ups for what Obama did not INTEND to say or do.
So now Glenn Beck says what he feels and everyone is running to “delete” him. In fact his comment was “he felt” that Obama is racist. He did not say “he is”, but merely was stating how he felt about Obama.
To quote:
Bill/amendment #1.
Congress shall make no law respecting an Establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Seems to me Glenn Beck was just using his freedom of speech of the position he was in to petition the Government on what he felt was wrong.
And maybe Glenn Beck is a racist himself…but the fact of the matter is….we are all allowed to have and to voice our opinions.
The government has even made comments that Barack Obama’s “brown shirts” are after Glenn Beck. The Obama administration should not be allowed to have this type of control it is a direct offense against our bill of rights amendment #1.
The point: Obama has his opinions, Glenn Beck has his, I have mine, you have yours and so on.
I didn’t realize Glenn Becks word became reality!
Barack Obama also said this was not a “christian” country anymore at one point…did that make it true because he said it. Research some more on this.

Great post!! Totally agree
I’m a bit confused… did the government actually punish him for speaking his opinion? I thought it was just companies deciding not to broadcast commercials during his show.
If the government did in fact do something to stop Beck from saying something, please let me know – that’s a ridiculous abuse of our constitutional rights!
Yes, everyone has the right to free speech. Glen Beck has the right to say any ridiculous thing he wants. People have the right to tell advertisers how they feel about those comments. And the advertisers have the right to pull their commercials. The government has nothing to do with it. That’s free market capitalism at work.
…Hi, interesting post. Everyone is supposed to have the right to freedom of speech, that doesn’t mean that we say whatever comes into our little heads. With that freedom comes the responsibility to be prudent. What I find interesting currently is that there is an effort to make it okay to demean the President, calling hm a Nazi or whatever, so that conditions are set up which make it’s fine to do something crazy. I don’t have to spell it out. If this happens, the person that does that something crazy will only make President Obama a martyr, and he will live forever as a hero. So carry on with your freedom of speech sagas, but do be careful with your justifications, motives are
sometimes very suspect. Take care.
Speak against those in power and you will likely end up with IRS and other problems.
good article.
i love making fun of Glenn Beck
See, the thing about Free Speech is that it works both ways- Glenn Beck has the right to say whatever he wants, but the ordinary people who are boycotting his sponsors have just as much right as he does. They are using their buying power to be heard.
This is a dumb article. No one is suppressing Glen Beck’s freedom of speech. He can legally say whatever the heck he wants. However, if his speech happens to negatively affect his career, well that’s his problem. Similarly, if I went around saying stupid stuff at my job it would likely negatively affect my career and relationships. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean there are no consequences for your words and actions. Get real. Typical republican hypocrisy – “free market, free market, free market” until the free market turns on you, then suddenly your “rights are being suppressed.” What a bunch of hooey. Anytime Glen Beck wants he can get a real job like the rest of us instead of making his living being a bloviator like Limbaugh and the other right-wing radio bufoons.
Freedom of speech is not a left or right issue, it is a Constitutional issue. I believe that Washington has gone amuck. It is not operating under the rule of law and the American people need to wake up and act while they still can. I am not a Republican and I have read Obama’s books and he says things that are racist. He also associates with far left looney types. He also admits that in his books. I do not think that people knew what they were getting when they voted for this Marxist. If anyone thinks that what they hear on the nightly news is “free speech”, think again. We are headed to a very dark place because we have believed the propaganda and the despots are in control. Not just Beck’s but all political dissent is in danger.
This Administration seems to consider the Bill Of Rights irrelevant if anyone speaks out opposing their viewpoints. However when The last administration was in power these same folks had plenty of insane things to say about President bush. They weren’t talking about the policies but made ridiculous, rude, personal remarks even vicious remarks that were a lot worse then what is being said about Obama by the right wingers. It appears that they want a double standard. One set of freedoms for them and none for those with opposing points of view.
Thats hilarious. Glen Beck should be allowed to wage a lying, vile, 24/7 propaganda campagin against a sitting President. He should be allowed to punch Democrats and the President in the face 24/7 and Democrats should meekly sit there and accept the assault.
Democrats are slow to anger and generally much better people than the Republicans. However if you want to try to destroy and slander an entire group of people.
Eventually they are going to wage war back at you with any legal means available to them.
That includes getting sponsors pulled from the psychotic madman known as Glen Beck.
Next step, get him committed into an insane asylum.
If its political war the Republicans want its political war they’ll get.
I don’t see what the big deal is. Everyone should know by now that you can’t take anything Beck says seriously. In a span of two minutes he completely contradicts himself. Beck says Obama has “a deep seeded hatred for white people,” but then says “I’m not saying that he doesn’t like white people.” This guy is a joke and, frankly, doesn’t deserve a voice on national television. Sponsors have every right to pull their commercials to shut down this hack.
Please, Liberals, stay true to your kool-aid drinking roots, I’m begging! Your own party is disintegrating before your very eyes with the self proclaimed communists, marxists, socialists, and other radicals that all sit at the table in the oval office whispering sweet nothings into your hack of a president. I cannot wait for the results of the 2010 election and then the trouncing of Carter 2.0 in 2012. Your party has so flown off the track of sanity, it will NEVER regain power again. Keep bashing Glenn, Rush, Sean, Mark, Monica, Laura, and their MILLIONS of listeners, PLEASE. It will make the demise of your lunatic fringe that much more enjoyable. You want change? It’s coming alright. Better buckle up.

D. White — “Democrats are slow to anger and generally much better people than the Republicans”
As a former Republican who is not about to become a Democrat, I wanted to thank you for a good laugh — I needed one today.
Nice thing about a right you don’t lose it. no matter who is in charge. And I and my brothers will defend you and your right to speech as well. Simper Fi
The bill of Rights
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
MMMMMmmmmmm enough said either way
