Glenn Beck: Speaking Before Thinking
In the tradition of most inflammatory pundits of the bully pulpit, Glenn Beck has a bad habit of opening his mouth before actually contemplating what he is about to say.
Fox News has the perfect example of how a (supposed) news personality should not behave like in the persona of Glenn Beck. Mr. Beck was interviewed by Katie Curic who asked him a question that was submitted via email by a member of the public. To wit; How does Glenn Beck define “White Culture”? This query was in response to Beck’s tirade about the President of the United State being a “racist” and having a “deep seated hated of the white culture”.
Curic asked the simple question in the manner of a true journalist trying to get clarity of an statement that has people with half a brain wondering -
- Why would Glenn Beck call our first black President, one of mixed lineage (half white, half black), a racist?
- How could a person (President Obama) possibly be a racist when he has spent his entire life loved and surrounded by members of both races and whose life experience has been showered with the unique positive entwinement of numerous cultures, races, religions and economic levels?
- 3. What in the world does Glenn Beck mean by “white culture”?
The mere fact that Glenn Beck has the gall to utter such nonsense is not so much at issue considering his ignorance of plain facts and his lock step allegiance to his boss, Rupert Murdock, owner of Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Considering Mr. Murdock’s ultra-conservative agenda which he has laid down for all his media companies to adhere to, its no small wonder that the spineless Beck would be a willing culprit in the cause.
As much as this is in and of itself an absolute shame, one would at least hope that as a highly paid Fox News show horse, Beck could at least have an assemblage of knowledge about the filth that he spews. If you’re going to be a bigot try to be an intelligent one. You can have a worthy discussion with a person whose opinion is different than your own when they can back up their position with real facts and smart assessments of a give issue even if their point of view may be askewed due to intolerance and blind religious fervor.
But in the case of Glenn Beck we have a person whose Howdy Doody face belays the utter disdain for real truth and actual patriotism. During the Katie Curic interview he floundered and hemmed to find an answer to the question – “What is the white culture?” What is most sad is that he couldn’t come up with anything even remotely credible as a response, stammering and stuttering his way through an attempt to side step, dodge and redirect the entire matter until finally coming clean by saying – “I don’t know.”.
That is probably the truest statement this media clown has ever said. The fact is that Glenn Beck doesn’t know anything about anything. Much like Sara Palin, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, Beck’s audience is rift with an unquenchable desire to further their own fear, hatred and ignorance by latching onto those in the public spotlight that can perpetuate a position of separation of the cultures, increase the divide of classes and throw back our country to the years before the civil rights movement changed the fabric of a nation.
