Regarding the pundits’ reactions to the new Obama Administration.

While surfing around political blogs and major news sources, I have been surprised with many writers becoming “dissatisfied” with Obama’s agenda and successes since assuming office on January 20th.  They cite the earmarked bills, continued allowing of lobbyists in Washington, and the partisan bickering that has arose over the stimulus.  It is very unfortunate to hear that the American public has become this jaded.  The problem is, Obamarama can’t cure everything instantly.  Bringing Alex Rodriguez to the Yankees hasn’t brought them a championship and he has been there for years.  The fact is, Obama and his cabinet members are trying.  Despite the earmarks, I believe that Obama’s budget is what is necessary to bring the country out of the deep economic crisis the last administration got us in.  In order to fix the country, the administration is required to appeal to the masses, and this has both good and bad connotations.

The GOP has reactly strongly to most of the administration’s efforts for anything.  Despite the realities of the spending that Obama’s budget entails, it is necessary to look past Republican’s alarmist cries about any attempt at reform the Democrats past. The Democratic Party, surprisingly, is not evil.  It is not attempting to turn American into the European model of socialism (which I’m not seeing why that’s a bad thing anyways, but that’s for another time).  Thanks to a majority by the Democrats in the House, Senate and now in the White House, it seems partisan politics are rampant.  This is hurting any chance Obama has at fixing the problems our nation is facing us, and the bitter attitude the GOP has towards the administration is definitely one of the main reasons the public is beginning to lose a little steam on the Obama train.

Despite the GOP’s rhetoric or what the news media is saying, President Obama still has a huge amount of political capital at his disposal.  He has the ability to reform the financial sector and prevent a future crisis while managing this current crisis, and he has the ability to create new jobs through economic recovery projects and a revitalization of the green sector.  At the same time, he has a well-assembled cabinet to back him up on important issues at home and abroad.  All in all, it is important to look at the long term.  Is Obama doing everything he can?  The answer is without a doubt yes.  So, really, it is absolutely vital to not lose faith in Obama and allow the new administration to bring real change to Washington and secure a better future.
